GOT MY DYNO RESULTS FOR MY JRSC GSR...
Hey guys.. just seeing if anyone can give me some tips/advice and just check out my results.. I dynoed my 94 gsr today with just an intake, boost timming controller, 6psi pulley, and I got max HP of 189 and max torque of 145.5 ft lbs.. just want to see if you guys think if that should be in the area.... also right now I am running kinda in the lean area..(getting a better fuel pump soon.) but yeah so i am taking it easy and keeping it under 4k rpm... sorry I tried to get an image on here but no luck..
ok I finally got it..

Re: GOT MY DYNO RESULTS FOR MY JRSC GSR... (95GSRTT)
sounds rite.. a gsr would prolly put down 145 to the wheels.. and an average of 40 to 60 whp.. so sounds rite...

Well If you had the graph it would better help us understand...specifically the TQ. But either way 189HP isn't bad...like said before thats about 30% gain from stock. Sounds like it mostly like the SC was extending your TQ range...which is helpfull too

Re: GOT MY DYNO RESULTS FOR MY JRSC GSR... (Ringbearer020)
I have no idea why that would be considered "really weak", that sounds perfectly normal for a 6psi JRSC setup to me on stock exhaust manifold, cat, and exhaust. I think the typical power is in the 200whp range. Thats what I usually see give or take 10whp depending on each motor's condition.

I have tuned many cars with jrsc's and those numbers are right on the money. Even with Hondata and a seven pound pulley most cars that I tune with your set up put down around 200. So no worries man, that sounds right.

Post the graph!
I hit 200whp/150lbs on the 6 psi pulley, and crappy FMU so you're not too far off.

I don't want to start a war or anything
but are turbos just that much more effeciant that s/c?
Obviously the size of turbo, manifold, i/c size etc are all factors.
but un-tuned I put down 194hp 134tq on a mustang dyno at 7.5 psi...and I thought my numbers were kinda low.
I just figured a jsrc would be a bit higher at 6psi. oh well.
btw, I have a b16a, revhard stage 2.
edit: I'm seriously not trying to start a turbo vs. s/c thing...

hehe.. well turbos do put out more power compare to SCs.. Its just I like SCs because of the instant boost and the sound it makes... but its just the person's preference.... also since the JR FMU is crap what should I consider as an upgrade option? I've seen people use the Vortech FMU on these setups.

I tossed mine in favor of Hondata, which was a big waste (there were no tuners in my area at the time). What about going with Uberdata, or some other engine management system?
Also, look into a good header like the kamikaze, and a good exhaust. Add cam gears to allow you to dial out the overlap, and a larger throttle body to open flow. With a good tuner, you should be able to see 225+ at the wheels with a safe, 91 octane tune. Without engine management, using an FMU, you won't have the ability to tune fuel in certain areas, so 215 would be realistic.

Are you using the walbro fuel pump that Jackson uses? I remember when I got my kit in 98 that the intank fuel pump was not yet a part of their kit. A couple of days later I bought and installed the pump and it was a night and day difference....power jumped by alot. Before I went with hondata, just i/h/e base jrsc kit with it's fmu set-up & fuel pump I did a single dyno pull while heatsoaked and had around 208hp 153tq.

right now, I am loving the stock look.... I just want to stay stock so that peeps dont' rev on me all day, and plus I won't get harrass by the cops.... other things like smog, no carb numbers...etc.. to worry about right now.... wow 215 would be really nice..hehe.... also thinking about booting it up to the 8psi area..hehe..

have you run the car at the track yet? I'd really like to know.
189 is alright, but its not amazing.
With boost setups , the exhaust is a huge issue. you should be able to pick up lots of whp with a larger exhaust and header....
this is actually disuading me from going a SCed GS-R... thats a lot of cash for nnot a lot of power

i may have to post this question on a thread all together but.........
Has anyone used any kind of ecut-out device on a jrsc setup? Im sure it wouldnt be to hard to add on a kamikaze downpipe........ just a thought.......

well the cool part is that SC cars do quite well on the 1/4mile because of the linear power that you get compare to turbos.... also consider that I am only boosting around 6/ 5.5 psi.. I think its fine for me because first off its a safe level and I can always upgrade to the 8 psi pulleys.... I am not into being really fast/ into the racing scene.. I just want some fun power to drive around town and still be able to get the car smog without having too much problems.... I bought my kit used so overall I guess it didn't cost me too much for all the stuff I've put in so far....
