Good street tire for turbo car......
What do you guys recommend? On full throttle, I don't have traction in my turbo Civic on street tires until top of 3rd/into 4th. Part throttle is OK, but it's uncontrollable on full boost. I would drive on drag radials all the time, but they don't corner too well, and they wear way too fast. Any recommendations? I am running stock GSR wheels, with I guess a +1 size, so I'd need a 205/50/15 sized tire. Thanks in advance.

stock GSR wheels (and tires)?
If you are on stock michelins, then that's definitely the problem...
I'm using toyo proxes T1-s and they seem to handle the power pretty well....this is only at about 7-9 psi, though....
I think it's inevitible that you will get bad tire spin running a lot of boost....perhaps the next step would be LSD if not purchased already?

I use Bridgestone Potenza RE711s, thats in a 16" size. I use them everyday, and they seem to transplant *most* of the power down to the road, with a little bit of tirespin, but they last me 6 months (which considering my driving style, is good ) I also use these tires for autocross, and they grip real well, even in partial/full throttle cornering. They're amazing in the rain too, the best wet-weather tire i've ever experienced.

Re: Good street tire for turbo car...... (jinxproof99)
out of all these tires, which transfers most of the power to the ground with the least wheel spin and lasts a good length of time (over 1 year)
i have the nitto drag radials and they didn't last long at all (6 months) with only two runs on them. and i haven't tested these tires on boost because there was a lot of downtime so i wasn't able to test it with boost. but, i in a week i will have a lsd.

I have BFG comp T/A's and they were pretty good but traction wasnt too well. Maybe mine were defective. I liked my toyo T1's. They were the best bang for the buck for me. This is a very good topic.
BTW...who is running a LSD in here. If so what kind?

My vote for best bang-for-the-buck tires in stock size are the Dunlop SP5000 or the Bridgestone RE730s. Can't go wrong with either tire.

I have heard that the before and after with the Quaife is remarkable. I have plans to buy one down the line since I auto-x.

Re: Good street tire for turbo car...... (dragnGSR)
Thanks for everybody's input.
I have personally ran the Toyo T1-S's, and they're OK.
I used to have the Nitto 555 extreme performance tires (in 17's), but must have had a bad batch, because the sidewalls gave and shreaded the tires on 3 of the 4.
I will be putting a set of Bridgestone RE730's on my ITR, but the ITR doesn't break traction like the turbo Civic does.
I had a pair of the BFG g-force drag radials, and they didn't corner good at all. Felt like the sidewalls were collapsing on turns.
Any other suggestions?
Oh yeah, I'm not looking to spend a fortune on them either

To reiterate, Falken Azenis have great sidewall stiffness, superb dry grip, and phenomenal cornering adhesion. For their performance you'd think they cost over twice as much!!!

I run ADVAN A048 SS compound 215/50-15 or Dunlop D98J H compound 205/50-15. My Mugen 1.5 way is waiting on the rebuild parts to arrive so I am using a stock GSR viscous diff for now ..
