Default Good junkyard turbo for b18a? (NOT FOR MY CAR!)

My friend may be purchasing a 91 civic & b18a soon. I am going to try to convince him to build a nice cost effective turbo setup for it. Mostly so I can get some more turbo experience. What turbo off of what car would be a good choice? Also what intercooler?

About how much would you bay for a T3 from one of those cars? What about a manifold?

Oh, does the T3 have a internal WG?

those t3 do have internal wastegates you have to remove them since they wont fit right. The best bet would get a manifold from any bseries that has the t3 flange then any intercooler you can find and some piping and your are set. the DP will probably be the harders to fabricate.

The price for thsoe turbos are around 100-150

Viren the info man! schoolin me from day 1.

as for the turbo mang, im doing a b18a turbo right now and ive been scaveging the junkyards around here, looks like the going price for a t3 is about 100-150 but that is in my area, got a friend in phillie who went to a yard and was gona get a t3 off a thunderbird for 11 bucks, it all depends on what area you live in, some places really dont know what their selling so they will be cheaper than others but for those knowledgeable theyll try to charge you an arm and a leg. Look around at yards and see what the going price in your area is, if all else fails just get one off ebay for 100-150 and rebuild it.

would it be possible to convert those T3s to have an external wastegate instead?

I don't think I'll beable to convice him unless I can do it for UNDER $1000.00. I can fabricate all of the piping, so that won't be a problem. Then We'll have to find a cheep used BOV, WG, Boost Dependant FPR, and probably a new fuel pump. Am I leaving anything out?

1G DSM BOV 40-60
WG-get a turbo with an integrated one and use a manual boost coltroller60-80,
its way cheaper than an external one like the Tial, or Delta...
Vortech FMU 80-100 used 12:1
Turbo, few sources for the T3, look above 200-250
IC eclipse, or starion, cheapo cheapo 100-200
piping 100
fuel pump bosch 80-100
one thing u forgot is the

MANIFOLD....xxx.00

it CAN be done for about 1000.00!!!!! if u find the right prices,
but i have to say sourcing all this is pretty time consuming

good luck!!!

I have an internally wastegated T3 for sale. And I can most likely get a DSM sidmount for anyone interested. Will sell with the turbo, but not alone. Also have a Starion IC thats already modded with 2.25" side piping that I will sell if I get the right offer!

Be sure when you buy the turbo to get one off the old mustang SVO, Merkur XR4ti, or the T-Bird Turbo - they're all T3 Super-60s which are just a short step down from a T4 compressor and spool quicker. The automatic trannies come with an 0.48 turbine and the manuals have the 0.63.
