16g is a great street turbo. Little lag with lots of power. They usually go for $400-$500. This is what I am using on my kit and spent pretty close to $1000 for everything. For the manifold, I just made my own. You'll save hundreds and get good quality (if you know what you're doing). For the IC, I would use one from a Starion. They are nice and big and have low pressure drop (something that's good for a turbo like a 16g). For IC piping, I would go no larger than 2.5". For exhaust after the turbo, it's to your liking. Some like it loud, some like quite.

Re: Good cheap turbo LS teg set up??!!!!!! (G"UNIT)
look at johnnyracecar.com for a cheap intercooler... for the 5" its like 155 and the 6" is like 185, down2turbo on ebay has good rebuilt t3s for $300, look at the for sale forum at http://www.homemadeturbo.com/forums for a good manifold for cheap... have 2 people making them for under $200. Yes, kteller does have piping. Pick up a bov from a 1g DSM and some DSM 450cc injectors. As for fuel management, uberdata is free all you need is chips, burning equipment, and knowledge of the software (and a wideband). Oil lines can be had for $75 shipped.

Re: (RedStarGsr)
turboing for under a g note is not easy. Very possible, but not easy because of all the shortcuts you might take.
Almost everything you get will be used. You could be better off spending $2000 and get a nicer new turbo and bigger exhaust/etc...etc
Cheap, Fast, and Reliable (pick two)
fast and reliable isn't cheap
cheap and reliable isn't fast
cheap and fast isn't reliable
GL with your friends setup.

True to an extent. As long as you cut corners where they can be cut, you'll be fine. For example, buy a log manifold from shitbird, not an $800 equal length from lovefab. Tune with uberdata. make your own MBC or buy a $16 one from srpbrent on ebay, don't pay 300 for a greddy profec B spec II. Under $1000 is probably too cheap to be reliable. Save up and give yourself around $1500 if you can do installation and you already have an exhaust. You don't want to go to cheap. You just want to be reasonable. PM me if you need advice on where to go for a reasonably priced turbo part. I'm almost done peicing together my kit, so I just went through what you want to do. Also, being patient and giving yourself a few months will allow you to search around for the best prices.
Lots of the HT guys here go all out with precision turbos, spearco fmic, lovefab manifolds, hondata, and lots more stuff many people can't afford. The classifieds here are usually filled with those very nice products for better prices.
