Godspeed gt30 anyone?

Just seeing if anyone is running this turbo
Because I don't want to spend the money on a precision or Garrett because im in college and pretty broke. Anyways my tuner told me gt30's are great
My setup is a stock b20b it's been on 9 psi in an eBay 50 trim for 3 months and I made 220whp with that turd so I hope this turbo is a little more efficient

http://godspeedproject.com/TURBO_CHARGER?product_id=824

There only 259 shipped on ebay

And it's junk from experience? Or just because it's eBay, because I have had 1 Godspeed that never gave me any issues
And my friend has has the .50 Godspeed on his car running 21psi for 3 years
So if it's really junk that ls for the advice if you have never had any experience with it
Or cant tell me the pros/cons of the size of the compressor and hot side please don't even comment

Re: Godspeed gt30 anyone?

Youre definetely gambling hard on that turbo

Size is fine, but puking oil into my chargepipes and having to swap turbos isnt worth the money savings

Buy quality, you can find a quality used for $500

I Used one for 3 months before i saved enough for a real gt30 when i pulled it the shaft play was pretty bad but the seals held out but i was using an oil restrictor. If u want to gamble go for it

There is a big mismatch between turbine 43.46 /59.20 and compressor 66.72 /84.25 with a very small hot ar of .48. Do not buy.

Agreed even if it didnt blow up it would spool terribly and be pushed to the surge point at very low power levels.

godspeed is only good for getting your tune done and dyno numbers.

I used a Godspeed 60-1 2 years ago on a stock block gsr. It made 400whp on 10psi. Then it started to eat itself. But it had a warranty so I got a new one for shipping costs.

Re: Godspeed gt30 anyone?

So Godspeed was alright with there warranty process? I saw they said the warranty was only valid if there item was installed by an ase certified mechanic, I work at a shop but I'm not ase certified.

And I only rev to 6800 rpm on the b20 because of there weak rod bolts
And the engine is completely stock, I might gamble with this turbo and order a precision or a turbonetics turbo, some one from bisi said they would give me a alright deal on a turbonetics so I might go that route once summer hits.

Re: Godspeed gt30 anyone?

Yeah they were pretty good with the warranty. My buddy is ase certified so i just sent them his information...it was easy enough. I reved my car to 9k...whooped the f*ck out of it. But i wasnt too upset when it destroyed itself, its an ebay turbo afterall.

I dont think you'd be disappointed at all with a real GT30r in comparison. Id buy one for the noise the lovely surge cover makes alone lol

Did that ruin your motor? ingesting metal shavings?

We swapped the turbos, then like a month or two after that i was having oil pressure issues. Vtec would engage one time, then it wouldnt engage. So yeah, i think because of the shavings it decided to spin a rod bearing or something. Didnt look into it. I sold the block and bought a sleeved one.

Heres a picture of the whole setup.

Oh man. From that perspective a cheap turbo is not worth loosing a motor over.
