Go-Autoworks cast v2, does the wastegate hit the crx hood?
Hey guys, Im in the market for a turbo manifold and noticed the go autoworks cast manifold is on sale for a damn good price
My only convern is bolting the tial 38mm wastegate right to the manifold and not having it clear the hood
Does anyone know if it will fit in a crx??

Typically for CRXs a wastegate elbow is used. You'll need either an older style two bolt flange wastegate, or an adapter to fit an MVS.
It works, but you'll have to do some adjustments, when it could be easily handled on the tubular version.

No, rasing the hood won't work unless its around 1.5" spacer if I recall correctly. I know for a fact the Go-Autoworks kits use elbows for both B and D-series turbo kits.

doing anything in a crx is like stuffing a fat chick into a smart car.... it's not exactly easy

Those are a damn good deal and wastegate placement is awesome compared to on one runner like previous mani and most cheapo's.

Wastegate placement is perfect with an elbow. That's how my CRX was setup with a B20VTEC swap and raised hood with 1" and 3/8ths spacers. I had to space the hood for engine clearance though, not wastegate clearance.

With a d series in the EK chasis, the WG will not hit. At first I had contacted greg last Nov when he first put out V1 of the cast and my WG was hitting the hood. With the vacuum fitting turned a certain way it would not hit. Don't get me wrong, it was a tight fit and your setup may cause it to turbo. All else fails, elbow!

Would this manifolds wastegate placement clear a crx hood??

Almost seems like it may, but the t3 flange seems to be on a weird angle, could you run the compressor on the drivers side with a flange cocked like this??

I really don't care for the wastegate placement on that manifold. It'd be better to find one that was centered. And run an elbow. Most cast manifolds will have the turbo flange clocked at a slight angle like that. Things you'll have to consider as far as fitment goes for the whole setup in a rex are turbo size, wastegate size (which tial 38mm?), downpipe size, fmic size, charge piping size and how you want to route it, half rad or full rad, and slim fan or stock fan. Open dump or recirc? Wanna keep a/c? How much metal are you prepared to snip outta the front?

just get an elbow made. The go-autowork is almost identical to my Blox
but i will say that, on my hatch, if i didn't use a full radiator which would have made running a dump tube impossible, i could have gotten away without using an elbow. hood closed just fine

Re: Go-Autoworks cast v2, does the wastegate hit the crx hood?
I dont want an elbow. I have a half rad already
I wish it was a single cam EF in that pic so I knew it would close for sure
Why do people say they hoods dont close

They close, you just have to cut some of the bracing out. Even after that you might get an inverted ding to form and eventual hole through the hood due to engine deflection. Really depends on what wastegate is used... Would you just stop being so ignorant and stubborn and let it go already? Do whatever you want.
The END.
The END.

"But I don't wanna!!!"
Stop this already, sir... CRXs are the most difficult to be able to have any additional equipment to fit in, whether you're single or dual cam. If have to do whatever it takes to have the car run safely and repeatably without fear of damage to other components or fires. In this case that means 99% of the time for any cast manifold you need to run an elbow for the dumptube.
Please.. stop bitchin' get it done... or don't.. You have extremely limited options here. Those that are advising you are telling you from what they've already done in their EF/CRX chassis. Do yourself a favor and listen to them and stop trying to reinvent the wheel.. At this rate, you'll never get this done.
Simple.. Because they won't from the wastegate hitting against the hood based upon what most company wastegates are used.

In which case, the best, smallest choice is the 38mm MVS model in which case he'd need to use a 2 bolt flange -to- v-band adapter (which would still might hit), or use something other than some chincy cast manifold, and a tubular log where you have some options.

Re: Go-Autoworks cast v2, does the wastegate hit the crx hood?
I used a 38mm wastegate on my old b20 crx and had to run an elbow, that was with a revhard log manifold. As many others have said already, you dont have a lot of options here.

Has anyone successfully ran this manifld on there car in an ef with d16 and NOT needed to run a wastegate elbow??
Im hoping the wastegate clears the hood with no elbow
