Getting it tuned saturday, how far should I push it?
Hey guys/gals, any input would be appreciated.
The setup:
b18c1, stock cams, skunk 2 gears, type r springs and retainers, p&p job, skunk 2 IM
Stock sleeves, .030 over, cp 9.1's, eagle rods, nuformz blockguard, stock girdle
t3/t4 .60 cold 57 trim, hondata, 796 cc injectors, 3" downpipe dumped at first exhaust hanger (under seats)
I've been running 14 psi for a few months on an old tune (2.5" exhaust, stock cam gears)...
I am thinking about going to 16 psi, maybe 15, not sure... (pump gas), I want to keep it save (speaking relatively). and i'm hoping for 400 whp.

The shop's wideband was messed up so we rescheduled for next sunday, an entire week for me to decide how far to go

why take your motor to the limits? I would take reliability over power any day.. stay around 14-16 as youve said. We dont know how reliable these other cars are with "stock block and 22 psi". I say just stay safe.

If its your daily driver you might want to keep reliability in mind. I wouldnt push it too far on pump gas....one bad tank of gas and bye bye motor.

Re: (JAY)
It's not a daily driver, i drive it on the weekends and some warm summer days. I probably will go to 16 psi and no farther. The majority of the time I drive it, it's out of boost or in low boost (8-9 psi).

Re: (94lsboost)
How about you run as much boost that is still safe to reach your 400whp goal, detonation will be easily picked up on the dyno they will be using knock sensors I would assume. No doubt the engine can take it. 93 octane would be a must I would imagine.
I never set a boost limit aslong as i was inside the turbo's effientcy range, always picked a HP level I wanted to achieve...

****. If its your weekend car then get as much as you can out of it. As stated before keep it nice and rich and the timing conservative. good luck.

Re: (ImAcracker)
I'm kinda back and forth. I guess a happy medium would be to do 16 psi on pump gas, and then get it tuned for 110 or 116 octane at like 22 psi or so, what are your opinions on that?

Re: (94lsboost)
I just saw a guy on here with a similar setup, stock sleeves go 555 whp on 24 psi c16. So I'm considering 16 psi pump gas and like 22 psi c16....still undecided though. The only way to do that is to have two separate chips, correct (hondata 200)

Re: (94lsboost)
Just for your info. I am running 19psi on 93 with stock sleeves. This is also my daily driver. I am planning on getting a c16 tune to run 22-25psi.

Re: (SOHC_MShue)
Thanks guys....it's just easier for me to ask what boost everyone is running...i'm probably going to stop at 400 whp, assuming it doesn't take an assload of boost to get there.
