I already have a walbro 255hp intank... I want to add a inline, goal is around 600whp maybe a little less. It will probably take 35psi to get there. I was wondering if 2 walbros would be fine or just get the bosch

From what the Nov DSport says about doubling up, you'll see something like 1.65x the output if you combine them, or any other pumps. It says in order to see close to 2x the flow, you need 3 pumps and even then, you still can't realize 2x's. The tests they ran on the Walbro HP Kit (p/n GSS342-400-946) say that it'll support 782 BHP/665 WHP at 45 psi with a 13.5v supply. I don't know what the fuel setup is you are running or the psi you'll be lookin at on the top side but a single one of these pumps, (*according to the tests that is) will support 635 BHP at 75psi.

Something I hadn't thought about until reading the article was running an independent power supply to the fuel pump. Apparently, (*according to the test) these Walbro pumps can support 1k BHP at 45psi with a 16.5v supply drawing 13.8 amps.

On another note, if you want a Bosch (I think the unit you are talking about is an Endyn unit) pump, I have a brand new, never used pump for sale.

IM me if you want a Bosch, and hopefully this thread might generate some real world Walbro or other fuel system talk that will edumacate us all.

I'd suggest one Bosch 044 with proper wiring.. I'd use 2 Walbro pumps if I wanted twice the unreliability and twice the inconsistency.

i have one 255 and am adding a inline, inseries to the Walbro, bosh 044 pump with a 13.5v feed from the alternator. That will be all I need for 650+whp. Im at 575whp on a 255 pump that is losing fuel pressure pushing 24psi of boost, 1000cc injectors :gay:

How high are you pushing the FP with you see the pressure start to fall off?

i just added an inline 255 hp with -8 lines and an aeromotive filter and it made 669 wheel hp and didnt drop pressure

you get what you pay for, a walbro pump is a 75$ part.. i use em but i keep an eye on em.. have a couple fail on you and you'll see

I am looking at trying to use a 910 pump for my street car. I want to play with fuel pressures above 60psi. Yeah I know you will have to find some better injectors. Will probably use some sort of Bosch injectors.

I don't mean to thread jack, but it's sort of on the same subject. Other than a fuel pump outright failing and causing catastrophic damage, is there a way to test them, or do you just hope for the best? I've had my GSS342 for about 4 years. Part of me wants to get a new one, but a friend of mine got a defective Walbro for his RX-7 (brand new), and that makes me concerned about their quality. Should I just keep the one I have?

you can send it to RC, they have a fuel pump dyno.. or spend 75-80 bux and get a new one. i have seen quite a few walbro pumps that quit working after they are used then sit for a while.. they are cheap buy a new one

Unlike some of the worthless posts on H-T, I actually have reason to believe my comments, or I wouldn't post them. For that matter, it is my OPINION that I would not bother running two fuel pumps that have a much higher failure rate than the Bosch 044. If you choose to run it, and it works great, more power to you, but don't knock me for having the brains to do it better from the start.

It's my daily driver, so I can't really send it out. My main question is if, as it seems, I have a good one, should I stick with it? Your answer sounds like what I've heard for other fuel pumps as well. Once they're put into use, don't let them dry out, but what about the general lifespan of these?

From my experience, the Bosch 044 Inline Fuel Pump will flow more than the Walbro 255 Inline Fuel Pump. The Walbro is less expensive though, which is why it's widely popular. I'm running the stock fuel pump with a Walbro 255lph Inline pump mounted next to the fuel filter, and it's currently supporting about 400whp @ 22psi.

If you've already got a Walbro 255lph In-Tank Pump, try just adding a Bosch 044 Inline pump and see what that does for your fuel delivery. I think you should be alright with just those 2.

BTW, are you shooting for 600whp on a 1.8t engine? Good luck with that, and I hope you have some sort of SEM you plan on running, as I'm sure there's no manufacturer that makes a chip program to support 600hp on a 1.8t ECU. People who have made 600hp on that engine are far and few between, I hope for the best out of it!

You cannot put the weaker pump first, it just does not work like that.
