Which gauges are most important to have?

I'm getting a boost and a fuel/air gauge, but what other gauges do I need? I was told that all I really need are boost, fuel/air, water temp, and oil temp.

in this order:
boost
egt
fuel pressure
water temp
oil pressure

i'd get a oil pressure before I got the fuel pressure. Losing oil pressure is a BIG deal.

if u are going standalone......ditch the A/F and get the O2 DIY wideband

besides the boost gauge, which other gauge would be most important.. i only want two guages showing in front of me the others I will hide in the glove box......

What is the point of having the gauges and hide them in the glove box. http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emhammer.gif

egt
oil pressure
water temp and
fuel pressure

Boost is a must, and so is oil temperature and A/F...However, an EGT gauge can let you know if you are running lean/rich so that will be way more accurate than the Autometer style that just has the LED bouncing back and forth. Check around here and see who has the proper lean/rich temperatures. If you don't have any sort of gauge to tell you if you are running lean or rich, you can blow your motor. You also want to tell the oil temperature because if your oil is getting WAY too hot, its not going to maintain its viscocity and won't do its job, therefore resulting in some ish http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif So both of those are a must at some point in time if you plan on running a custom kit or a lot of boost. If you just buy a GReddy kit or something and leave it at the boost that its supposed to be, you don't HAVE to have those gauges just yet.

Who make the best gauge out there?

I like Greddy.

Well Autometer are fairly inexpensive and you can get them real quick if you need them. The GReddy boost gauge along with all the other companies (ie Blitz/A'pexi/HKS) read in bar for boost, so your going to have to know how to convert bar to psi if you need that. I would rather read in psi, so I went with the Automter one, I've had it for ove 2 years now and everything is kosher with it. I want to go to the new Blitz ID gauges soon though, but those read in bar. Its like this: Would you rather look at a digital clock that tells you flat out what time it is or an analog one where you have to do some thinking to find out the exact time? http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmile.gif

Okay, I am buying that bezel pod kit for my integra, where there's two gauges sitting in the dash by my speedometer, etc. One will be the boost gauge, and the other will be the EGT gauge. The other 2-3 gauges will be placed somewhere unseen. I don't want my car to look so obvious that its boosted.

Would everyone agree that the boost and EGT gauges are the two most important gauges to keep your eyes on all the time? I need to know this asap. thanks

So far I have the EGT and the Boost gauges. Go with the Defi gauges, they're pricey but really cool.

maybe someone can tell me why a wideband A/F guage is not the more important than an EGT?
This is exactly what I'm wondering. Which of those two are more important to be looking at all the time?

boost and egt are the two MOST important. You really dont NEED the other gauges but they are good to have

Re: Which gauges are most important to have? (E Swift)

Ummm do you know how much a wideband 02 sensor and gauge would cost you? It would be close to probably $1,000...definately not cheap. If you go and buy the Autometer A/F gauge, thats basically pointless if you want to know proper lean/rich mixture, the LED just bounces back and forth and tells you nothing of importance. An EGT gauge on the other hand gives you actual number readouts in celcius temps so you can see "how" lean or rich you are running. There are certain temperatures for certain cars that are at the peak of its leaness or richness (ie 3000GTs should reach 1600 degrees celcius and nothing more otherwise they will starve their motor of fuel and then KABOOM!)...
