Default Garrett GT4088 spool/power Q's

Hey guys. Got a couple questions for you.

So, I'm looking at getting a Garrett GT4088 turbo(Divided Housing/1.34 turbine/72.comp), Wondering how the spool is on other people with similar setups. And what power you came out with on low/high boost levels. Would like to have a low boost tune/15/20psi for around town, testing different suspension setups at the track. Tell me what you thought of it over all.

This car WILL be driven around town, but rarely. It will see most of its time on the track.
Looking to make 550-600hp at least.

B18c/Benson Sleeved 81.5mm
Crower rods/JE pistons 11:1 compression
Supertech springs/ Crower 404 Cams

Is this the 65lbs/min GT4088 Journal bearing, or the GT4088R that you're considering?

That is the 4088R unit in that thread, a buddy of mine had the journal bearing 4088 on his built eclipse GSX and i think he made 466whp at 28psi...

For the money, there are several other options available in journal bearing that can do the a way better job much more easily. A T4 isn't needed but if its a preference. GT3540S, and SC6169 and SC6176. and T67 come to mind. you don't even have to go with a Billet compressor wheel.

I'm just a little worries about the spool. I think my Compression ratio will help get it spooling thougth.

Not really, especially with that housing used on that particular exhaust wheel, your compression ratio will not help you that much. It will not respond as well as you think.

i was kinda thinking that myself, that exhaust wheel is going to be your spool issue and on a journal bearing turbo...

Its actually the massive housing that will kill his spool. The journal bearing isnt really a drawback, but the 1.34 a/r turbine side will be laggy as hell.

very laggy, why such a large turbine housing and wheel for the power goals. dont buy a turbo just to say you have a gt40. get a turbo properly sized for the application. Listen to the shodan. he knows what he is talking about. T3 is all you need and will spool much better. t3/t67ho, precision journal bearing 6262 or 6265. sc6152s. so many options out there for a 600ish whp goal why overbear it with a laggy missized turbocharger. peak power isnt what makes a car fast, the wider powerband will get the job done better than a peak power car

Enough to get pissed of waiting for this thing to respond on a sub 2.0 litre engine. Imagine a tractor holding you back while you're trying to drive the car forward, than at 5500rpms or so (B18C even more for a B16), SNAP-O, you finally get going.

Not sure if this helps but my car made 400 whp and 500 nm torque at 1.5bar boost stock cams 2.0l 16v vw engine. Strangely at 1 bar the car make 376 and the power only climbs to 400 whp with another .5 bar boost. I'm running the gt4088 turbo with t4 .68 precision housing and gt4082 73 trim exhaust wheel.
