Default Garret GT turbos on H22a?

hi guys I am looking at this turbo for the H22a Lude:

It is a Garret GT2535 turbo with the newer design cartridge (part number ending with -31) and has an AR ratio of 0.6

Does any of you guys know if the A/R of the 0.6 is sufficient for 8psi on the H22a?

that thing is too small for an H22A. The GT2835 or GT2835R with an AR.86 ex housing is a much better choice. What will your rev limit be and how much power are you looking to produce? The GT25 series turbos are essentially T4 (and T3) compressors mated to an HKS specific T25 ex housing. The GT28 uses a T28 sized ex housing. The GT25/28/30/ ex housings are VERY similiar to normal Garret T25/T28/T3 housings but the inlet flange is slight different. You also might want to look at IHI RX5 and RX6 BB turbos if you want a quick spooling full BB turbo.

Are you talking about the compressor when you mention AR .60? If so, you should be more concerned with the ex AR size when looking at the GT25 series turbos since the housing is very TINY!..HTH

To be honest man I don't know all that much about turbo sizing, but Iw as told that even the Td04 from the WRX (previous model) was a sufficient turbo....

I am only looking at about maybe 200 Kw or about 220 HP on the lude, maybe a little more but thats about it, I won't touch the internals at all so I will stay at less than 8 psi.

I am just trying to find a suitable turbo for the H22a, I don't really understand the formulae given to read the compressor mapping for the different turbo's. If you or anyone else can give me advice on this amtter would be muchly appreciated...

oh by not touching internals I mean not building up for stronger internals or higher rev limiter etc...

to put it blunt .. anybody who suggest putting a TD04 on an H22a is a crackhead. The smallest turbo selected for an H22a should be one of the mid sized T3's. A T3 Super 60 would be an excellent choice for a street duty car with a rev limit of 6800~7300rpm. As far as mitsu turbos are concerned an upper level hi flow TD05 would produce lots of lowend/midrange power on an H22a.

The OEM TD04's are pumped to 1.2~1.5 bar of boost just to get 250~270whp out of 2.0liter cars that have rev limits of 7k~7300rpm. A T3 or TD05 on the same engine can produce the same hp at .8~1.1 bar. A T4/T3 or TD06 will produce the same numbers at .6~.9 bar and will give more room for future builds. Quick spool isn't always the best attribute of a turbo.

Getting back to the GT25 series turbos. Use an AR.86 or larger ex housing!
