Default future project questions: 88 crx hf t66 turbo b18c1 motor

alright, my friend, who is new to hondas is going to buy my 88 crx hf and build it up. he has done other turbo projects including a 92 dodge stealth r/t tt and a 91 eagle talon tsi both cars under 12 seconds in the quarter mile. we are trying to find out exactly what it will take to be able to achieve these goals using a B18C1 motor:

bore 2.0L
be able to rev to 10k rpms for best turbo action on the T66
what cams would be best
what internals?
any other pointers?

I was looking at the Crower stroker kits, and they mention that on the b18c engines, you have to remove piston squirters... any info on that would be nice too.

thanks very much!

Step 1) Read
Step 2) Swap in a B16
Step 3) Turbocharge that stock B16 eventually

A T66 powered 2 litre CRX as of right now is a total pipe dream. Start small, work your way big. If he wants to bore it 2L, why are you asking about stroker kits? If he doesn't even have the kind of basic knowledge to differentiate between boring and stroking he shouldn't be trying a huge HP build yet.

ok bore/stroke is what I meant.... my bad... the best one I have seen is a crower kit starting at $2300.... but I also was not asking anyone to put me down.
basically, just answer the questions, please.

I'm not putting you or anyone down, I'm being realistic.

84mm Benson sleeves, CP pistons, Pauter rods, balanced stock crank, new oil/water pumps, RLZ engineering head, ITR cams, RLZ springs/retainers, AIR CF intake manifold, Accufab 75mm TB, full-race top mount mani, 4" full race downpipe, T66 P-trim .68 A/R, suspension, etc.

A t66 is good for around 700 WHP and 9's in a race car. You don't go from a 12 second bolt on talon to a 9 second FWD honda race car in one jump, that's why I'm being a REALIST.

alright thanks for the input. ya we were estimating somewhere around $15k to get the crx under 10's and we were'nt sure on what exactly all should be done to build the engine for it. but thanks!

Once again REALISM should set in here.

-Full 10-point cage, re-certified every 3 years
-NHRA license with test passes, retake every 2 years
-Parachute
-Window Net
-Aftermarket axles
-Full SFI suit (pants, gloves, jacket, face shield, neck collar)
-SFI balancer
-Battery cut off
-5 point harnesses (replace every 2 years, mandatory)

You could spend 10 grand on safety stuff alone, with no motor and not even touching the suspension. Then you need a truck, trailor, tools, race gas, tires, money to pay for it when **** breaks, money to replace wear items like clutches, etc. I can tell you this right now you arn't going to put any car legally and reliably into the 9's for 15K. Try double your budget and you're on track but will still probably be short if you don't have a good tow rig right now.

^^^^^ What he said. I have almost 20K in my hatch and am just now getting to the point where my motor can hit 10's, not to mention i still need a cage, better axles, and a Twin Disc clutch ($1000+)

THis is his friend, I already have an NHRA drag license, a full racing suit, boots gloves, helmet, all nomex. Battery cutoff switch and fuel cutoff, can get parachutes, roll cages, and harness's for cheap froma friend who owns a safety company. Also have an SCCa racing license. So I am all set with that. We get huge discounts from horsepowerfreaks, and cheap tuning, also get discounts from various other places. We wanted an idea of what we had to do to the engine to get it strong enough to run high 25-35 lbs of boost. We didnt need criticism, or for someone to tell us we cant do it or wont be able to.....you have no idea what our financial backing is or anything. All we wanted was simple advice on how to build the engine or what was required....for instance the oilers they say we have to take out (see original post). Just the simple info, Thanks....yeah vinyl doesnt add horsepower.

IF you/he had all that stuff, why are you here? If I got huge discounts from horsepower freaks and some huge cash flow that you obviously have, I would take my car to their shop and say "here, build it", not **** around trying to get information from people on an internet forum, where half these people have never touched a build like that before. If you're serious get on the phone and call people
