Default funny smell, then low oil levels, then compression test, NEXT STEP?

recently ive been driving and my car is a bit low and i scrapped my cat 3x, not too serious at all though. then yesterday, i was driving and had this weird *** burning smell. my friend said its most likely my exhaust or my turbo burning. so this morning, i decided to check the oil level, and yes, it was a LITTLE bit short of normal. barely made the 1st dot. i have scheduled a compression test for later this week. i checked everywhere for oil spots, but cant find any. my question is:

if the comp test reveals that its consistent throughout all 4, what does that mean? and if it doesnt?

the best thing to do.. is to overlook EVERYTHING you messed with during the install and make sure it is properly hooked up right. especially the main things like oil and fuel lines...

have someone whos experienced check it out...
