Default Fuel system with Turbo build stock FPR + cam gears

I have a kit on the way and i already got the 550cc injectors and a walbro 255 on the way. Is the oem FPR and rail good enough for up to 400hp. I don't plan on going that high more in the 300-350 range. Ive been reading the AEM fpr is junk so im going to stay with stock unless you guys think it needs an upgrade. Also the motor (gsr b18c1) has ITR cams non adjustable cam gears. Do you guys think the oem setting is good or should i get adjustable came gears to degree them differently?

Thanks guys

What else do i need that im missing besides the peakboost kit...

If you guys think there is anything im missing please post it..

I also have msd 6a,cap and ss blaster coil and wires
apexi exhaust - will end up going to 3" all the way back when turbo is on

I want to make sure up to 8psi its a bullet proof daily driver. Got the peakboost ceramic coated to keep temps down too so trying to cover all the bases

Cam gears can help if you're needing to dial them in to avoid exhaust reversion, but most Honda heads flow well enough that you shouldn't have any major issues unless you go way too small on the turbine side.

In regards to fueling, my opinion would be that 550's may be just shy of what you'd need for 400whp. However, my experience is NOT with Honda motors, so I will defer to someone who more specifically knows your setup.

i apprecaite your input. I believe your right 400 is on the threshold of duty cycle on 550 which is why i would be just as happy with 300-350. i can always go bigger in the future

most good tuners wont tune a stock engine to the 400hp range on 550cc injectors. i would go with 750's or the new ID 1000s just for good measure. also know that these will be the last injectors you will ever buy.

as far as cam gears, dont bother. you may see a gain but it will be very minimal. for the money spent its not worth it.

stock fpr and rail will work fine.

you and i have a very similar setup. i put out 397/260 on 14.5 psi stock gsr

Those are great numbers. Thanks for the advice ill pass on the cam gear in that case. I already ordered the 550cc injectors so im stuck with them unless i can pass them off to someone else. What size injectors are you running at that hp and is the STD or SAE?

My main concern going with the 550cc was b/c i wanted to keep the fuel mileage the same off boost. i know you can reduce the dwell time but going with bigger injectors i was concerned how much they can be reduced using Crome on chipped obd1 p72. So that is why i choose the 550cc. Originally i was going to go with 440 but after i decided to go a little higher to avoid locking them up in case they hit that nasty duty cycle of death

Fuel mileage wont change much with a tune. I got 28mpgs on the highway in my ls-vtec with 1000ccs.

Cam gears- Ive used them on stock type r motors, best settings were at 0-0 for that engine. Depends on if you done any decking of the block or heads to decide if you need them for stock cams.

Nothing wrong with 550's now and something bigger later; take care of them and they'll be easy to sell.

Depending on your setup, the cam gears might be able to net you a decent amount of power under boost -- especially if you can alter the VTEC point. The trick with cam adjustment (both adjustable gearing and the VTEC crossover point) would be spending quality time on a dyno. At ~$100/hr, you'll want to budget for at least three hours to make sure it's all dialed in just right. You won't have any problems finding someone who knows how to dial in a B18

I appreciate the info guys,

With the 1000cc what are you using to tune S300? Crome? AEM? im not sure how good Crome would be to reduce dwell on such big injectors off boost?

good to know so its all in the tune..

In terms of tuners what do you guys think between Church and Do it Dyno (bubba) ?

I haven't talked to bubba yet but i talked to Ryan at church and they charge $100 more then bubba 350 vs 250 and he said they tune off load and Bubba does not b/c he has a simple dynojet and with thier dyno they can put a load on at any rpm.

If you're interested in gas mileage and part-throttle acceleration characteristics, then you want the dynopack that "Church" has. Otherwise, tuning for full throttle only will be fine to make sure you have enough fuel everywhere, the missing component will be making sure you aren't overfuelling at anything less than full throttle.

how long ago did you order your kit? because if it has only been a few days or so you can always change your injectors if its not to late. the best thing would be to call and ask. it doesnt hurt. I ordered my peakboost kit and i had a few days to change things around if i needed to because it takes weeks to get the kit in. but good luck with the kit and post an update with numbers. Also make sure you get the right size wastegate spring that you want and BOV spring cause they come with a specific size but you can always change before they ship.

I bought the injector and fuel system separate, i ended up getting 550cc's and originally Ken recommended 1000cc but Ryan at Church told me 550cc would be good and Grant at turbo kits said the same so the 550cc are arriving next week and they may already be sold at a loss but i don't mind hooking up someone on here with all the help i got so far and i already got a 1000cc on the way. The wastegate i did request a 9psi spring which is the biggest they have and i ended up buying my own BOV HKS b/c ive always like the pull actuation and like the way it sounds on my bike too.

I have a question for you guys, I have a p72 obd1, is that simply interchangeable with a p28. i found a p28 with the hondata s300 but i doubt its a plug and play swap?

thanks
