Default Fuel pressure too high to crank good???

I have the 450cc dsm with safc2 and it has to turn over like 10 or 12 times before starting up. When it cranks i smell fuel and see a little puff of smoke. Ive turned the fuel on safc all the way down and it still does it. Well, i just installed a fuel pressure gauge and it looks like the 255 intank bumped my fuel pressure up from 38 to 50psi at idle. Would this cause the difficulty in starting?

ya, its probably dumping too much fuel in there. get an adjustable FPR, turn it back down...

38 to 50 won't make it hard to start. Check your vafc settings and make sure there's not a leak in your fuel system somewhere. If there's a leak then it'll take a few cranks to build pressure...

Try priming your engine a few times before starting. See if it starts rite up or if it still takes a while. Also see if you smell fuel still after just priming it.

It cranks good when engine is at normal temp, but if its been sitting for a while it wont start right away. Also i noticed that if it is really cold one night it fires right up in the morning.

sounds like your losing fuel pressure after the car has been sitting for a while, leak maybe in one of your lines

is it possible that one of the injectors may be leaking the fuel into cylinder because i went out and cranked after it finally started i cut it off and tried again and it started right up. Almost as if fuel leaking into cylinder and sat in there

I know that my car did the same exact thing (wouldn't start cold until several cranks, then would start fine once warm, or rite after i shut it off) but that was because i would lose fuel pressure after i turned the engine off due to a hole i drilled in my fpr (to lower pressure at idle)..

Happens on alot of hondas, turn your key to the II (ON) positon and wait for the check engine light to go out, then turn to III (START) position, should fire right up everytime.
