Yes, but why waste the money/time when you could just replace both? You're going to hear the same thing from most, and that is to just buy aftermarket rods while you have everything pulled apart. Good luck, but if I were you i'd save up the extra money and take care of it, even if it's not for anything other than peace of mind.

I'm using stock ls rods with srp forged pistons in my daily driver.I'm in the 275hp range and haven't had any issues. The stock gsr rod is a lot stronger than the ls rod.The stock cast pistons are the weakest part.

forged pistons with stock rods can go pretty far. just make sure they have arp's in them.

but you can also sell 2 of the blocks and spend money on forged rods to make it go even further. rods arent that expensive. well either are pistons for that matter.

What hp goals are you trying to reach? that will answer your question if you need rods also. If you a replacing rods why not re-sleeve? If you're re-sleeving why not buy a bigger turbo to make x amount of power? It's a domino affect, if you know you hp goals then that will answer your question.

i'm looking to stay in the 500-650whp area i just want it to last.

the last motor i went a year before the ringlands broke, no damage to the sleeves,
no knocking etc. just want to not worry about it.

i've done this to 3 b series blocks all just stock with ARP head studs.

You NEED to put in aftermarket rods. QUIT being cheap! The stock LS/GSR rod will hold 400HP MAX, and that is if they are deburred and shot peened again (of course with ARP fasteners. Rods go for $300, and if you are shooting for over 400hp, you NEED aftermarket rods. END OF DISCUSSION...

I doubt you'll make it there on stock rods, if you do it won't be for long. I'd be looking for some aftermarket rods or buying some extra blocks because you will be needing them.

If you want that much power, im sure you have alot of $ into other parts like turbo/manifold/fuel....I know money can be short at times but just wait and spend the $300 on new rods, or atleast find used eagle to put in there if your really struggling..

I agree, we did the same thing years ago for a customer to "save cost". It was hardly worth all the work. Get both sets of components and be patient with your build.

cp pistons and eagle rods are good for a ton of power. althought the stock sleeves are not. i say you could see 550 outta that combo. yea the idea of somthings stock combined with forged stuff isnt the best idea. lol.
