Forged pistons - stock rods?
I'm currently rebuilding a b18a for boost, and I am on a budget. I have a set of SRP pistons I would like to use vs. using the stock ones. Problem I ran into is I either buy OEM Honda parts and use stock shotpeened rods (do I need to shot peen them??) or I buy aftermarket parts (bearings etc) and get forged rods.
I will be running 8-10psi, no more.
Thanks

Re: (skratchnsnift)
I was in the same situation as you once.....
I know its tough, but save up and get the rods too! yes you can use stock rods and forged pistons for the power levels your running but you will eventually want to turn up the boost. If you do this now, you save yourself a complete rebuild later just cause you need to put rods in. This is what I had to do.
Rods can be found for less than $300 dollars. Patience is a virtue.

Yeah, I was thinking the same thing. This is my first engine build, got a excellent mechanic helping - advice only, I insist on doing it myself - but didn't want to cut corners, honestly. Heh, yeah I'll probably want more later on, so forged rods it is. I can wait a month more; I've waited three years already.
Thanks.
Thanks.
