Plenty of people are making good power on stock LS rods. See this thread... https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1777215
I intend to shot-peen my stock LS rods and put forged pistons on them.

stupid question, but how much does shot peening, and setting up for a bushed small end out weigh a good set of forged rods? to me it just would suit better to use a set of better rods that in the end would net a better gain with the forged pidtons, maybe i am just not thinking this all the way through. am i not getting something?

Yes just have them hone for the floating pins, my shop also make a small hole on top of the rod to allow oil to get to the floating pin.
Beleive me, save money and buy some forged rod! I juste bend an ls rod at 320whp, now I need to rebuilt. And don't tell me you won't go to that power, you will...

Re: forged pistons on stock rods?? (snowbunny)
they might go higher than that, but for how long?
It may be my tune that kill the rod, don't know.
I did 2 years at 295whp and they hold.
I up the boost from 10.5 to 13.5psi and it bend, I just estimated the power to 320whp, but it may have been more than that.
But my advise stay, get some rods.

replace the rods too, that is completely stupid to just og with forged pistons, you might as well not even get those... why not do it right the first time?
and if money is a issue save up and do it right! not half assed
having forged pistons will limit you in boost pressures and eventually just snap the rods, so might as well do it now instead of later

Man U FTW
idk why you wouldn't just replace them when you have it all apart.....just for peace of mind if nothing else
OT: Does anyone know the limit on stock GSR rods? I'm building my new setup to see the limit on stock internals....
