Forged pistons clearances for street engine - experienced builders welcomed!
I'm in process of building D16 250HP+ supercharged engine that should be installed in my daily driver ('92 Civic Coupe).
As the car will be driven every day, I need my bottom end bulletproof as much as possible - drivability is also very important.
I'll be using Supertech forged pistons (75.5mm, Part No.4-HD755-N12) and I need to rebore my block - but I have to decide about piston-to-wall clearance...I've got specs sheet from Supertech:
They put only note about MINIMAL piston-to-wall clearance:
0.0023" or 0.06mm.
Is that really enough or should I go slightly looser?
I would really like to hear some more details from more experienced builders!

If you have an intercooled M90 eaton or centrifugal on there, .0030" would be enough. If it's a JRSC at least .0035".
My street D16 is at .0035", and I don't get enough piston slap to notice it. I even have a stock muffler after an e-cutout, and I still dont' notice it.

2 HiProfile:
Hm, I am going with M62 Eaton & FMIC - so my SC is sized between M45 from JRSC and M90...
After reading all this, I guess if I choose 0.035" I'll be OK with street D16 engine.

.0035" here and no excess noise, some catch can smoke but I gapped the rings for a high HP than my motor has so oh well.
