Forged pistons @ 15psi on stock sleeves(h22)??? Something seems fishy...
Ok, well im done taking apart my h22 and am ready to start the turbo build up. The VERY first thing on my list was to get the block sleeved as I was under the notion that to run any forged pistons, especially under the added pressure of forced induction, would require me re-sleeving the block.
So I mozzy on down to the ONLY local honda performance shop "Sonic Boom Motorsports". They guy behind the counter tells me that my block should be just fine @ 15psi so long as my fuel and timing were correct. But if I did want to turn up the boost above around 18psi for track use that I should get re-sleeved.
Does it seem ok to run forged pistons on the STOCK BLOCK???? Just wondering if this guy new what he was talking about...thanks.

That would be fine on a B series, but Don't H series motor have fiber enforced sleeves which prevent their use with forged pistons (ie JE pistons?)

Due to the FRM liner with the H series motors you cannot run forged pistons because it will sooner or later 'gum' up. Wiseco were supposed to have a special piston with rings that you can run with stock sleeves but this has not once been verified. Wiseco has spent a LONG time redesigning the piston skirt and I believe they recommend to run a certain type coating on the skirt as well so they are compatible with the stock sleeves. You can do an archived search in the prelude forum for 'resleeving' and you will come up with all the info you ever need plus the pictures of what happens when you run a forged piston in a FRM lined cylinder wall.
Another thing 'sonic boom' forgot to tell you about are the weak ringlands that the H series pistons have. After around 10psi you will eventually break them. Firedrake has managed a bit over 300whp with 11psi on his h22a for a while now with no problems, but keep in mind he has a rebuilt planned in the near future.
Listen to us, we know our stuff. Besides, if you listen to sonic boom you will most likely hear a sonic boom while you are tuning on the dyno.

doesn't the h22 have two different blocks one close deck and one open deck
does the closed deck block need to get resleeved also? does anyone know from
experience?

92-96 are closed decks and 97 up are open decks
All years use FRM lined cylinder walls. Yes, the closed need to be resleeved as well. You can sleeve both open and closed deck or use the Darton closed deck conversion kits for the open's to make them closed.
