forged internals in a b16b, i need help with some Q's
My motor is on its way out, therefore im going to put forged internals in it. I want to put pistons and rods in. My problem is that because of the different rod/stroke ratio of the b16b i dont know what rods to get. Do they make aftermarket rods for the b16b? can i run b16a rods? do i have any other options? I am going have the block machined so 81.5 mm pistons will fit, thats no problem. I just need to know about the rods.

your best bet is to bring it to a machine shop. unless your really good with measuring thousandths and ****...everythings real precise. dont chance it, atleast i didnt. sometimes rod bearings need a little machining. its not much. but good luck, keep us updated

Maybe go for GSR internals.

Re: (SiKid86)
so NO ONE makes b16b rods?
i find this hard to believe. i dont want to go through the hassle of buying a gsr crank and putting it in there. making sure that it is in good condition etc is my worry.

nope, there arnt any shelf rods, you will need custom ones...
i have looked into the B16B a great deal, lots of info...hit me up on AIM.. GSR2242

It's going to be about the same price to have a "junkyard" LS/GSR crank checked out and machined and put in your block with off the shelf rods/pistons as it would be to have custom length rods made, so you might as well go for the B18-series crank and make your car a lot more fun to drive on the street.

The B16B has the same deck height as the B18/B20's, which is about .200" taller than the B16A's. To use the same compression height piston as all the other motors, the B16B uses longer connecting rods to make up for the deck height.

the B18 is 7mm taller than a B16A.... and the CTR does NOT have the same compression hight as the rest of the B-series motors...
