Forged All Motor Pistons on Turbo Car?
Hey guys I tried to do some searching but couldn’t really find anything. I was wondering if there’s any downside to using a “All Motor” forged Piston in an engine your building for boost?
The pistons are from Arias. From what I can tell the Turbo pistons and All motor pistons are made out of the same material and weigh almost identical. The compression ratio is in the 9.0:1 so it’s not high.

Just get the correct type of pistons for your application. It's not fun nor cost-effective replacing them when you could have got the specified ones to begin with.

Well, it is also depending factors like target boost and power level. Cylinder maximal working pressure load. Whole setup overall.
Generally, of course there is differs in base desing between ”all motor”- and ”turbo” pistons (like pin area, skirt width, dome thickness and pistonring placement), but it does not mean that n/a-piston can not survive in forced induction condiotions.

The included pins are different. Arias includes thin wall pins with their NA pistons that will not tolerate high boost/torque levels. You will at least need to get pins designed for a forced induction application.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I always wondered if it truly did make a difference. I honestly thought it was all just C.R and design differences.
