FMU Chronicles.....loosing faith in the turbo
Ok, heres my situation this week:
When im driving 85% of the time im in the red "lean" and it doesnt move, then occasionally it will just jump across the board to green "rich" it will stay here for about 5 mins, then back to rich for the rest of the day, this will go on a few times daily. when i idle, for the most part its lean. never really stoich. so i only boost when its rich cause i dont want to risk anything. bottom line is i can only boost 15% of the time im in my car. i run 310s with the 8:1 disc.
possible problems i can think of:
02 is shot (im throwing code 41 right now)
FMU is stuck closed, and every now and then will open up
I can possibly relocate my fuel pump since there is a slight slight kink in the line (nothing major though)
thats all i can think of guys. please help its very frustrating, and im starting to hate the car that once brought me joy
depressing.......

I think it is your O2 sensor...I had similar behavior with my a/f guage but I also had a code for the O2 sensor and my FMU was working fine because my fuel pressure was rising with boost as it should.

Ok, got under the car, the 02 appears to be pretty damn black. i mean really black hehe. no lose wires, the harness seems to be in tact. so this leads me to believe i just fouled it out from running so rich for so long. i dont have the money/time right now to pop a new one, so will running like this for a little while hurt me? Im under the impression that im on an open loop right now. so im just staying rich since my ECU is confused and isnt sure how to adjust the fuel as if it was in a closed loop system. i think that my A/F is not sure whats going on and its just jumping all around, and i really dont trust that thing as far as i can throw it. what do you guys think. am i ok to boost with a fouled 02? it wont lean me out will it? i think that even my AF says im lean, that im really not since im not on a closed loop where it would constantly be adjusting fuel many times a second. you know the A/F dance where it shoots back and forth what do you guys think please give me your imput
