Default Fmax - BOV won't clear the hood

The HKS BOV won't clear my hood. If I tighten the bolt all the way down, the hood will close but there is still pressure on it.

I'm disappointed! I found a way to temporarily hook up my pipes while FMAX figures out a way to bend pipes to fit my GSR. Now the BOV won't clear. I'm even more convinced now that they don't have it together when it comes to pipes fitting properly!!

How do people normally set their BOV anyway? Is it normally run with the bolt far down? How do you go about setting it?

No matter what kit you use, you will run into that problem. All the guys I know who run rev hard, cut a little notch in the hood reinforcement so the top screw would clear. I have also heard of people using washers where their hood connects to the hinges. A side effect of using this method is, heat is SUPPOSED to be carried out from under the hood quicker.

Dude, you got the wrong ******* kit. You're having way more problems than anyone else who has ever installed an fmax kit. My HKS BOV cleared my USDM hood, and my JDM hood. That kit is strictly a bolt on affair. I have installed two of them, the only complications I encountered were caused by me.

Did you ever call Fmax?

EDIT: I just saw you edit with the pic. That is WAY wrong. you need to call them tomorrow morning and have them send you the correct tubing.

edited with photo.

How much can you gain by cutting such a notch?
I need a good 1/2" with the screw all the way out.

Rev,
I agree with you. But, the pipes are so close. They told me they were the right ones. They are supposed to make new ones based on measurements I gave them. This is rediculous. One problem after another.

I haven't installed a kit yet, but I think Reverend is right. You got the wrong kit. Its the only explanation for all the problems you have.

Do you have to send them the tubing that you've got right now, or is that gonna be scrapped?

I could use an extra set of tubes.

I agree....you shouldn't have to do any of that stuff...I'm glad someone here was able to confirm that...too much b.s. is happening with your install almost as if youve got parts from a 2nd gen integra..

I know. Scott at Fmax is so insistent I got the right tubing. Can th '95 be different? He said the 94-00 all get the same tubing. I do have the skunk2 manifold which does sit higher but he knew to take that into account.

I don't know if he wants the old tubing back or not. If I thought he didn't I would have taken a hacksaw to them to get them to go on temporarily

Do it the easy way. Cut a hole on your hood so it'll clear. But then again, water will come in and it'll look ghetto

From the looks of the pic the thing would go clear through the hood. Is that right Gruvytune? Damn man, I would be all over F-Max like stink on **** man. They better fix this **** for you and quick, or I would be threatening BBB on them. Not that BBB could do a ******* whole lot, but it could help.

They have agreed to make new pipes for me. there is at least 1/2" of bolt sticking up that won't clear the hood.

where does that fitting on the side go? Does it go to the compressor fitting along with the connection to the side of the wastegate?

Wow, that really sucks!
Perhaps my fiance is getting mad enough at this whole thing that I should put her in charge

What was with your tubing?

Scott seemed agreeable to make new tubing but with an attitude that it was my car that was wrong! I don't think that's true at all now.

How did you get Jaime on the phone. I talked to him once by accident and he impressed me. I only get busy signals, answering machine, his wife Sherry--who does not know the technical stuff, or Scott.
