Fitment issues with 3" AC downpipe
Sup all, I have a lil problem. I ordered a Nuekin man./ DP some months ago. When I received it I looked everything over and put it back in the box. Now that I have all my new upgrades and saved up enough money to get it all put on I notice that on the down-pipe the bend is so great that I cant get to the 5th bolt in on the DP.http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif What do I or can I do to fix this?

use a stud and nut
|
Re: (drumking15)
its so tight i dont think you can get a nut in between there.
|
Re: (rocket256)
lol looking at that picture i dont think you could either. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a full 3" if you cant mount it.

Re: (95GSRTT)
I know! I was all ready to get it retuned this coming Wed. but now this https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emsad.gif

You might be able to get away with just using the other 4 holes, but it'll probably leak without a gasket. You can try one of the dp gaskets that RRE makes, and that might be enough to seal with 4 bolts:

Re: (inspyral)
just put a stud in that hole so u wont have a leak
|
i have damn near the same problem and only run 4 of the 5 bolts and have no issues even without a gasket
|
are you sure you got it from Neukin? b/c the welds do not look so good, neither does the craftmanship. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emdgust.gif

Re: (Krabbypro)
I only have 4 bolts in mine and it does leak.

Yes; I got it from Nuekin. You want to see my bill of sale https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by FOrSfEd »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">I only have 4 bolts in mine and it does leak.</TD></TR></TABLE> How bad did it leak? What did you do to fix it? |
Re: (FOrSfEd)
Couldnt you tap that hole and just snug it up entill future work could be done

you can barley get a pencil in between the bend and the plate |
Re: (rocket256)
From the other side though ?? Just tap aset of threads in there ??
|
Re: (FortunateFool.)
there is no way anything is going in there. I have have made plenty of downpipes and this is the kinda of thing i try to avoid. You either have to go with a new downpipe or run 4 bolts. It doesn't even look like it has enough room for a nut, if it does you could put a stud on the turbo, then put a nut in and tighten up the nut as you push the flange in.
|
Re: (Krabbypro)
No what Im saying is ..with the DP off tap the hole a size bigger to make some threads for a bolt to screw into. Theres plenty off room on the other side not the smushed up side.
|
Re: (FortunateFool.)
ouch, that looks like poo. hope you didnt spend too much on it, or hope the guys at neukin will redo it for ya. thats pretty much impossible to do anything with

Same here. Works fine for me. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
Re: (synik)
id take a dremel and dremel down the flange enough to fit a nut in ther and put a stud in the turbo then you should be fine https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif
|
im really suprised someone made that and didn't even bother to think about how a nut would fit on there!!
i would say another solution is to cut the DP and get a v band setup going... then bolt up the flange then vband the rest of the piping... |
Re: (igo4bmx)
I talked to Alex and he said that "it has been decked so I will be fine with running olny 4 bolts!"
|
Re: (synik)
i ran 4 out of 5 bolts on my last setup with no leak

I agree.....I only have 4 bolts on mine also. It's not necessary to have all 5 bolts/nuts. Go with 4 man..you'll be just fine. Who ever said put a nut in there...well your nutz. Anyone can see that there is no room even if there is room for a nut how in the world will you turn it? |
Re: Fitment issues with 3" AC downpipe (rocket256)
i sprayed copper spray on mine and only used 4 bolts...so far so good

I'm with you ^^^ that flange looks really thick you should be able to grind some of it off to fit a nut in there. |
