finished turbo project tonight.. and NO Boost..
hey guys.. i finially finished my turbo project today.. here is the specs on everything..
DOHC ZC in 88 CRX SI
TDO5h (internal gate) came from dodge starion.. no shaft play.. and not much oil in the housings..
DSM intercooler..
DSM blow off valve
ebay.. manual boost controller (not hooked up..)
custom pipes for charge and downpipe..
Check valves on the map..
SAFC hack.. still stock injectors.. planing on getting the DSM380cc
i have a boost gauage (i know it works.. check it out on another turbo'd car)
and Air/Fuel gauage
No air filter on the turbo yet its running open
so here's the problem.. i wasn't getting any boost.. so i took off the line going to the wastegate.. this should keep the gate closed and let the turbo make as much boost as it wants right?
after i did that.. instead of reading little in the vacume side.. it now reads just little boost still close to 0 PSI tho...
Is it posiable the exhaust is pushing my wastegate open because of a weak spring inside?.. i next thing is the try and hold the wastegate closed somehow just to see if i can make any boost.. i'll try that tomorrow sometime.. in the mean time what else should i look for
(please no body say search.. if the stupid search on this board would let you search for a 2 letter work i would get somewhere.. however when i search "no boost" i get 1000+ replies with just "boost".. pisses me off).. thanks

Did you check all you pipe couplings, and make sure you have no boost leaks. Also, did you check to see if you turbo was spinning freely?

before i would do that i would double, triple, and quadruple check that your boost gauge is set up properly.

umm pretty sure the boost gauage is right.. it definitly reads vacume like -25 InHG or whatever is measures in..
all the couplings look good.. all the clamps are tight.. there aren't in signs of leaks.. the turbo spins fine.. in fact its very loud when spooling.. (zzzzzzzzzzzzz).. definitly spools up

yup.. it doesn't feel like its pulling as much as it did N/A.. i figure cuz the boost reads like 1/2 PSI

Sounds like a boost leak to me. The first night I went for my test ride I had the exact same problem spooled up to 1psi then didn't do a thing. I check my coupler about 10x and still noting, then notice a tiny pin hole in one of them that only opened when under pressure.
If it's building pressure everything else should be working, check for a vacume line off or something, on the intake manifold maybe?

leak in the ic?
leak in the couplers?
crack in the exhaust side near the wg?
can you move the wg actuator easily by hand or does it take some force?
were you trying to do this at idle or on the road?
where did you connect the boost line for your gauge?
good luck

leak in the ic? i know there is a little pin leak.. but it shouldn't affect it that much??
leak in the couplers? i'll check them but i doubt they are leaking
crack in the exhaust side near the wg? nope
can you move the wg actuator easily by hand or does it take some force? i can move it but it does require alittle force
were you trying to do this at idle or on the road? road
where did you connect the boost line for your gauge? only avaiable vacume like was at the fuel pressure regulator
