Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

This is a before of my single cam. It was fun and powerful, but after 6 years it was time for an upgrade.

During.

And these are some after.

And with a LITERALLY 15 minute street tune it made 350whp and 265wtq, SUPER rich and VERY low timing. I didnt have the laptop, so we couldnt tune on the dyno, this was just a quick fun pull. And its a blast to drive!!

Nice. I like it when people take the time to clean up the engine bay, now just clean up those hazy lights :)

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

Thanks! Engine bay came out good. It was morning dew, lol. Look at the windsheild.

looks clean....what exactly is your setup? how much of a difference was it compared to your single cam?

The single cam was built and had a t3/t4 .60/.63. Made just over 300whp at 22-23psi. I had a chance to sell it for this h22 setup and have money left over. So the H22 has a gt3582r and is making 50whp more..... and alot more torque. Lol.
The head is built with stage 2 cams, springs, retainers, etc...

stage 2 aka turbo cams? if so grab some stockers they will make better power. turbo cams dont agree with honda heads. keep an eye on your oil levels with that if the block isnt sleeved. they tend to burn alot of oil because of the nikasil bores. Nice clean setup though man good job. Id wrap that manifold personaly to keep under hood temps down and engine temps down ill bet it runs hot with that stock rad and that unwrapped

Actually it runs, temp-wise, as good as stock. All of the datalogs show IAT's and ECT's as good as the single cam. We have made well over 650whp on H's with civic radiators. And this radiator has a double thick core, thicker than a stock radiator. The tanks arent aluminum, but is thicker. I am gonna keep the FRM sleeves and run a Mahle/Eagle setup at the beginning of the year. So far so good though. If it blows I have about 3 blocks laying around to replace it.

Some new numbers. This was 16psi (and creeping) at 7500 rpms. Im taking the manifold off this weekend to install the bigger flange for the bigger wastegate. I have a small oil leak I am gonna fix at the same time

I got a real good deal on some upgrades and figured this would be a good time for the updates.

Mahle Pistons/ Eagle Rods

Installed

Headstuds

Balance shaft deletion. This mod helped the engine loose close to 12 lbs in unneeded weight. 1lb was straight off the crankshaft.

Upgraded the Wastegates JUST a hair.

We had to oval the dump tube to get the 2.5in pipe to clear to the ground.

Car is running good, and finally holding boost. Its in the break in period now, but i'll change the oil friday and do some more tuning.

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

Break in should last like 10 mins...Hope you aint boosting on breakin.

Take the spring out, and go romp on it down the street for about 4 mins then come back and your done with break-in.

Yeah man. Lol. Not my first build. Drove it home about 30 miles, with 15 of them around 60mph. Changed the oil tonight, and gonna do some more street tuning tomorrow.

That turbo manifold look crazy, nice build!!!

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

Got some new numbers after a quick street tune. 415whp and 350tq. This is at 17psi wih no spiking like last time with the 419. Lol. These are the real numbers! We are still running the timing low and conservative AFR's.

https://i728.photobucket.com/albums/...1126002044.jpg

The bottom curve is last month with all the boost creep. lol. The blue line is the torque.

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

thats funny. Im parting out my na h2b to do a sohc turbo now. from selling off all the h22 stuff Im gonna have alot of money left over after my sohc is built. you have a very nice build. I really hope I don't regret going back to a sohc, but I just want something for fun.

QwkD16 11-27-2010 12:33 PM

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

Your story is actually opposite of mine. lol. I sold my sohc and turbo setup and made enough money to get the H and its turbo setup, but I got hooked up with everything for cheap.

You wont regret the turbo d though, i promise. I made over 300whp and drove it 6 years.

K7-1Ktrevor 11-30-2010 08:36 PM

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

nice, ya Im mainly just looking for reliability. my h2b had some issues with retainer to vtec rocker clearance as well as rocker pads wearing down and messed up axle angles. let just say ill prob never put a h22 in a ef ever again lol. I love how much low end they have though but Im ready to get out of the all motor thing back into boost.

btw your charge pipes are awesome looking. 3" right?

Re: Finally done with the swap. *JJPSEC*

Yep 3 inch. We hid the BOV under the charge pipe to help with the flushed look.

Thats some nice power. That radiator makes me cringe a little. :P
