use a filter ... K&N = $30.00 .. Turbo > $500.00 .. get my point.
Go on ebay, buy some cheap cold air intake, chop it up and slap a filter on it

maybe because they cant fit one on there? most people just fab up a velocity stack or something for the track.
fredo broke it down for you though. it doesnt take that large of an object to do enough damage to a turbo to make it useless

i would use the filter, personally i dynoed the car with and without the filter, there were no significant changes in power... with the filter is safer...

Re: Filter or no Filter on your turbo inlet? (maxspeedhonda)
I run mine with just a screen over the turbo.. But then again this is a track/weekend car.. If I was driving it everyday then I would run a filter on it..
How many people do you see riding around NA without a filter, probably not many..

Re: Filter or no Filter on your turbo inlet? (tgreaves)
I don't run a filter. Just run a screen.
If you're gonna run a filter, find one that is not restrictive because you'll lose power because the filter "chokes" the turbo.

Re: (mildly interesting)
you need to run a good filter like K&N or apexi. ive seen first hand that an off brand filter came apart and ended up sucking into the turbo....chewed up the compressor wheel quite a bit...

Re: (Mase)
I was running with just a screen for a few days, the car was sluggish because it was sucking in all the hot air the fan was pulling from the radiator. I decided to slap the intake back on to see if it made a difference and it was night and day. Keep that in mind when running no filter in a similar setup.
