Default A few questions on choosing a turbo for my setup.....

Hey guys, I'm in the process of piecing together a turbo kit for my car. The car is a 2000 civic si with rods and pistons.....the head has gs-r cams, itr valvesprings/retainers, and a ported and polished intake manifold.....This setup used to be boosted by the previous owner on an sc34, and it made 293 whp @ 10 or 11 psi.

So far, I have my clutch, rc550's, walbro fuel pump, bov, intercooler, and all of my intercooler piping, and my exhaust. I'm lookin ginto a spoolin performance ramhorn style manifold, but i need to choose my turbo first.

Phew, that was a mouthful. After some words with the previous owner of the car, who is also a good friend, he highly recommended the garret GT28RS, fo rmy power goals. I am looking for 325 to the wheels, and do not want a turbo that is going to take forever to spool, nor do I want a turbo that stops building power at 6500 rpms.

I know thats higher revs are usually what kills motors, so I'm looking for a turbo that will be at full spool around 3000-3500, and build power until 8500 or so. My personal goal is 325 to the wheels on 12-14 psi....

So what turbo would you guys recommend? Spoolin is waiting to know as well so they will know which manifold to make for me.

Thanks in advance guys.

If you have the money i'd go with the GT2871r or maybe even the GT3076r depending on your ultimate goals...if money is still in consideration, there are a lot of people making great power on 57 trims still. I personally run a GT3255b which is a variation of the 57 trim and on 10psi im making 315/216 and seeing full boost on the street at 3800rpm

Manifold choice is also going to determine spool and overall power...i would recommend the Quick 4 from SPoolin...

thanks for the info. I said in my post i wanna run the spoolin streetpower ramhorn manifold. I like the styling, plus it clears my power steering and a/c with a 38mm external tial wastegate. I think the gt3255b will be a little tooo big for my final power goals.

Money is no real object, I have no problem saving a little longer to do things right the first time. The GT3076r is a nice turbo, and I think it will fit my needs better than the GT28rs, so I appreciate the heads up on that.

anyone else have some input

if the GT3255b is too big (smaller turbo and less flow than a 57 trim) then the GT3076r is going to be overkill...that leaves you with the GT28

The new T3 .70 a/r 3" v-band outlet turbine housing is a nice piece to integrate into existing setups.
