few odds and ends before starting the fresh built motor...
two things...
I'm about to put the stock axles back on at least to get tuned... I know I'll need new ones soon.
this end of the intermediate drive shaft plugs into the tranny diff... is this seal F'd up to the point it will probably leak tranny fluid? is this even a seal for tranny fluid?
The second thing...
wtf is everyone with a JG intake mani using for a throttle cable bracket?? I don't know if it comes with one or what because I bought it used, can someone share pics or let me know where to find the right bracket?
here's my first attempt which I think failed: just cut/welded stock bracket
I did a search on that and people say to use the ITR bracket, but then other people say it doesn't fit...
now trying to start her up by this weekend... still waiting for some parts, you know who you are

Re: (Bryson)
ok I'l replace the seal but I don't really feel like replacing the throttle cable...
the bracket can be bent a little to fix that angle but it's still too far back, I'm maxed out on the adjustment nut on the cable sleeve.
I see tons of people using the JG intake... do the brackets come with these mani's??
can someone tell me where they got the bracket? or is everyone making custom brackets when they buy JG mani's??
thanks!

The tranny seal I've been running for the past 6 months looks worse than that. I even ran without one by mistake for like 50 miles. I don't think it will leak. But, they aren't expensive anyway, I guess you might as well replace it.

I think the seal that holds the fluid in is on the tranny housing itself. . .I am not positive, cuz last time I removed my axles was like a year ago .. .

Isn't the seal for the axle actually in the transmission housing and not on the half shaft? Hell, if you're only going to be using it for a week or two, you'll probably be fine with the seal you have. If it were me, I'd replace it for good measure though...it can't be more than $5.

Re: (DaX)
yeah close up pics of the bracket would be nice
I'm definately replaceing that seal, I can see it being a problem if I leave it knowing my luck...
I'm more focused on trying to get a damn bracket now because I want to start it up this sat. only thing I have to do is make that bracket, plug in the axles and run vacum lines as soon as they come in...
I had about 1/4 tank of gas in the car sitting for over a year outside most of the time with open fuel filter in eng bay... I tried to sift the old gas out but it appears to be empty... does that make sense to you guys?? will a few gal of gas evaporate like that?

Re: (RotiEatter)
I dont know what motor setup your running, but with a gsr in an eg JG says to use an ITR throttle cable and bracket.
That seal is supposed to stay in the tranny, not come out with the intermediate shaft. replce it now so you dont have to pull out the intermediate shaft when you change your axles.

pfft, oh really? thanks for the heads up... so that IS the seal that keeps tranny fluid from falling on the ground.
I have a b16a setup... I think the GSR cable is different..?
RotiEatter, you must not have a b16 right? because my cable will not allow me to run it the same as you have, take a look at my side view pic you can see the TB spool is not up all the way meaning the TB plate is not closed, and thats with the adjust screws on the sleeve as far back as possible...
so far looks like I need to either replace the cable with GSR one and use ITR bracket, or just make another bracket to hold the b16 cable... I think the b16 cable is just not long enough.
are they a bitch to replace?
thanks for the pics Roti

Re: (GruvyTune)
no, they are pretty easy to replace.
To get my car running, (gsr motor and jg intake) i left the stock gsr throttle cable bracket on and i used a civic cable i had laying around. My cable runs under the throttle body, up, and back towards the tb. Like a backwards S. Not sure if i can put the hood on it since th gsr bracket sits the cable vary high....
You can make alot of combs work, especially if you can make dif. brackets.
