Feelings about regrinding a B18c1 crank shaft?
I'm building a 2001 B18C1 engine and was told I should have the crank re ground by the machine shop. I bought the engine with a bad #4 bearing. Now I have heard it both ways...never grind a Honda crank....and Oh yeah no problem people grind Honda cranks all the time....
So what the deal? I have been searching for a clean crank and its like looking for a 4 leaf clover.......Should I just regrind and micro-polish the one I already have?? Thanks |
Re: Feelings about regrinding a B18c1 crank shaft?
You should not grind a Honda Crank :P With that being said its been done before without negative affects. Finding a good clean crank is hard, have you considered running an LS Crank?

As soon as I saw this thread thats what I was going to ask him. If your looking for a crank I would keep an eye out for an LS. :hugs: |
Re: Feelings about regrinding a B18c1 crank shaft?
What is the difference between the LS crank and the GSR crank?

Re: Feelings about regrinding a B18c1 crank shaft?
It has a slightly longer stroke, you need to use LS Rods as well and either bend your oil squirters out of the way or plug them, otherwise its a bolt-in swap that will make a little more tq over the GSR crank across the powerband.

Re: Feelings about regrinding a B18c1 crank shaft?
So I would have to use LS rods, LS crank and my stock GSR pistons? will I end up with the same compression ratio? I plan on boosting this motor, shooting for 300-325 WHP.

Re: Feelings about regrinding a B18c1 crank shaft?
Compression will shift a little, use a compression calculator (google honda compression calculator) and you will be able to figure out where you will be at with compression and displacement.

Thanks Man! Got it.
