Fastest spoolin turbo that can make 700WHP...Turbo Talk!
I previously made a thread comparing the BW s362 to the gt35r and well now this is open to anything out there. Hopefully we can get some guys with dynographs to post them up as well. So among Garrett, BW, Holset, Precision, Full Race etc, What turbo is the fastest spooling turbo that can break the 700whp mark?

a bw 362 with the biggest t4 housing and about 40-45psi i think could do it
either that or a t3 or t4 t67 HO or a bw s366.............im just not fond of the gt50 either
maybe a gt3567 or gt37r could do it
but its going to have alot to do with the motor
whats your setup?

why do people expect fast spool (on a honda) and big numbers.
if you want big numbers be patient for 1,000rpms and get your *** glue to the seat when the boost does hit.

Re: (tony413)
its not that i expect fast spool with a huge turbo, its just that 6800rpm seems late for a gt4088r.
maybe i am mistaken? that seems like gt42 territory?? no?

if its a stock head with gsr cams he's going need a minimum of a 4088 and prolly a 42r

Re: (tony413)
is there is a reason you are set on 700whp?
if you have an efficient head i would go with a bw s362 on a vw with a 83mm bore and 92.8 stroke it made 31.7 psi at 4500 rpm's
and like i said you have an efficient head a good set of cams theni think the 362 if it was absolutely maxed out at 40-45 psi
on the vw at 31.7 psi it mad 608 and only revved to 7200 rpms

Another turbo to look at is the new garrett gt3788r. 40r compressor, with a new "37r" turbine wheel. Basically a gt40r with a 72mm turbine wheel.

Its a built gsr (9.0 compression), including port and polish with itr cams and a ramhorn.
Ofcourse I do realize that any high hp honda will definitely have some lag associated with it but the main goal is to have a car somewhat responsive on the street.

Have you tuned any of these yet? or maybe the BW 83-75?

The turbo is not even released yet. Its going to be released at SEMA from Garrett.
I know of an Evo that is local that has switched from a twin scroll T4 1.06 a/r gt35r to the BW 83-75 .91a/r T4 housing with the identical spool and better response on the street. Power was identical. The tune was on pump gas. Considering BW is using a 7mm larger turbine wheel, that is really really impressive. BW aero and ETT makes all the difference. Once this turbo is on some more cars you'll see alot of ppl switching over to it.
Here is the comp map for the 83-75:

Re: Fastest spoolin turbo that can make 700WHP...Turbo Talk! (ACTION JACTION)
I always thought it usually depended on the static compression of the motor and the A/R on the turbine housing. 9.0 comp isn't gonna yeild a fast spooling turbo when it comes to a gt35r or 40r especially with a big a/r on hot side.

By any chance was that 83-75 twin scroll or regular T4 housing? and how much is it good for up top? Great info by the way.
Edit: Nevermind, found it on full-race.com

that shows who made the better desicion
garrett focused their R&D on BB
BW focused their R&D the wheels
i think the wheels are going to win out

depends on the purpose really. if im at sebring, homestead, or road atlanta i diffinately want a BB garrett going around the track.
if im on the drag strip then BW no doubt

Without a doubt I agree that the wheels are definitely more important, but Im just a little perplexed as to why no one can mate these techologies together successfully.

and you used to yell at me for being a Garrett fanboy, you do have some love for Garrett after all, what your saying is what i have been trying to say for a while, both are great, each have pro's and con's i personally love the part throttle characteristics of the GT series turbo's but i also respect that BW is very dedicated to making turbo's to the absolute limit of the rules for import drag racing.
also to the guy talking about VW motors, stroke helps a great deal in spool up.
