factory LS headgasket on lsvtec????

ive always used factory LS headgaskets for lsvtec motors. but for some reason my brand new one is leaking from the back of the block. some one has told me that u need to remove the rivots on the intake side of the headgasket or else 'sometimes' the oil passage back there wont seal. is this true? i just got my head back from the machine shop and it was freshly resurfaced so that rules out the head being warped. also i didnt check the 1/8npt plug on the bottom of the block to see if they messed with it when they resurfaced it or possible even took it out....i dont know if that could be it anyway. anyone know what happens ith that plug doesnt seal? thanks in advance

The bottom left and bottom right hand corners are where the dowel pins go if you decided to use the second method. As you can see, the holes on the headgasket don't need to be modified. In some applications, the two brass rings labeled 'REMOVE' on a headgasket need to be removed, otherwise the head will sit on top of those and will not seal. Be absolutely sure you remove the two on the intake side only.</TD></TR></TABLE>

I don't know if that helps or not, good luck https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

when I was putting my motor together, I took off that tab, but it didn't really interfere with the mating of the block and head.

Did you get your dowel pins shaved down? I've heard that it could cause a problem because the dowel pin might be preventing it from sealing.
