Re: fabricating your own turbo kit (nsadhal)
it is about $1400.
remanufactured T3 turbo - 200
FMU - 140
Bosch fuel pump - 100
Tial wastegate - 205
Spearco core - 250
piping and material for manifold - 200
lines and fittings - 200
These are all new parts btw. I'm trying to find the FMU's for less but so far that's the cheapest I can find.

cool. thanks.
what's involved in getting the piping sorted out? would this mean i would have to weld it myself? or is that taking it to a muffler shop?
honestly, i keep asking this question in a lot of posts though, is there someplace (like a website) that i can learn the basics of putting together a custom setup?
like i've been through howstuffworks.com and everything... i was kind of hoping for some kind of specifics. thanks for the prices though

Re: fabricating your own turbo kit (dustin)
oh yeah, tack on another $150 or so for a new BOV. Anyway, yes you'll have to weld the piping yourself. We order the U-bends from a local muffler shop who we've known for awhile.

Re: fabricating your own turbo kit (TurboInteg95)
okay, but it seems like the fuel system is really important after read all the stuff on f-max's website... of course, they want to sell me an expensive setup... but it all looks so impressive.
that's another question, are the f-max kits worth the $ ?

IMHO if you have to ask how to fabricate your own kit, you prob don't have the skills to do it. Learn how the whole system works and fits together and them start searching the boards for used parts and/or portions of kits. You would need to come up with an turbo exhaust manifold and a intercooler first. Then add the turbo. Then have a muffler shop build your piping around your basics. Then you can add the various add-ons...fuel pump, blow off, wastegate etc.

Re: fabricating your own turbo kit (nsadhal)
I am doing one. I plan on having it completed for less than $1000.
Used DRAG manifold
1G DSM Blow off valve
T3 from Saab, basically just to save miney and have boost--I'll be going T3/T4 or Super60T3
DSM Starion Intercooler
Used Vortech FMU
Fuel pump? Havent decided on inline or intank yet.......
Assorted small parts like piping, silicon connectors, gaskets etc. from turbonetics.com
Internal wastegate on the T3, will go with Tial when turbo gets upgraded
Shouldnt be too hard. Takes a hell of a long time to plan and find the pieces ( If you care about a budget like me-I'm a cheapass ). Just ask a lot of questions. IMO this is the best way to put a turbo together, install it yourself and you will know exactly what needs to be upgraded in the future or what will need attention when something goes wrong.
Good luck

That's kind of my secret, hehe. my friends dad has an account with Bosch, actually probably through a distributor. Endyn and all those companies selling them for $250 are making a fortune off them. The exact part number of the one I'm running in my car is $100.

Re: fabricating your own turbo kit (TurboInteg95)
What fuel setup is needed to run 90-120psi? I will be using 310's and 8-10 psi with my b18c1. Roughly what fmu disk will I need? What is everyone running as a base fuel pressure with 310's? I'm trying to figure out what the max fuel pressure I will be running. I just need to get my car tuned good enought to take it out of town to get the hondata installed and tuned. Does anyone know what shop is closest to Memphis (5-8hr) and is great with hondata?

Pick up a copy of Maximum Boost by Corky Bell. It will give you a feeling for what's involved in putting together your own system.
