Default F@$king airtex fuel pump

So...the plastic threads on my airtex fuel pump decided they didnt like me. They just kinda threaded themselves off as I was screwing a fitting on.

I guess I need a new inline fuel pump. Any suggestions? Any without PLASTIC threads?

I run an FMU so I definately need one of these bad boys, right?

Thanks in advance

ditch the whole fuel setup...spend on 440cc, intank, and something to tune it with.

but if not, Bosch and Zex make a good inline fuel pump.

Believe me this is (well...WAS) only a temporary setup. I dont have enough saved yet for the standalone, or piggyback.

Bosch and Zex you say? thanks, ill go look at them.

here is a picture

Im thinking of just getting the same one...putting it on for a few months. I figure I wont have to remove the fittings between now and then and possibly thread them out again.

Does anyone know what size the threads are on top? would it be worth spending some loot on earls fittings for this?

Thanks for looking

Don't even waste your time with an inline pump. It is easier to buy a Walbro 255 high pressure model intank pump. It will work fine with a FMU. They are like $100.

Exactly, the inline Airtex is also like $100 or even more if I remember correctly. Much better to get an intank high pressure pump.

The 'high pressure intank'...u sure it delivers enough fuel for an FMU? Where did you find your information? If I were to switch to hondata (or another standalone) could I keep this pump?

Do I need to run higher gauge wires for this pump? Where can I find it?

I dont think the high press walbro will flow well enough if you are running a 12:1 FMU and boosting higher than 5psi. If you do get the Walbro it would be a good pump with the standalone. I'm running the high-press Walbro with Hondata and it works great. The Walbro fits right in the stock in-tank location. There is someone on the web that sells them for $107 shipped (dont have the name of the place with me right now).

FYI... I do have my old Airtex that I used for about a year, before switching. It works fine and I had no problems. It also still has the fitting already on. If you're interested I can sell it to you.... $40 plus shipping.

Either way, good luck.

With a fmu you will need an inline pump. A high pressure intank will not do the job. Do a search.

thats why I said u sure it delivers enough fuel for an FMU before. I was very doubtful that this pump would do the job. If I were to lower the rate of the FMU, could I begin to approach the range at which I could use a high pressure intank pump?

I ran my car up to 9 psi of boost without a problem with the high pressure Walbro intank pump. Besides once you get a standalone it will flow enough for 450whp!!

A fuel pump is designed to push, not pull. Running fuel pump in tank is the way to go and it will support as much as a inline.

Besides most people put their aftermarket inline pumps in the engine compartment where they are pulling and losing efficiency. This also leads to alot of them failing! An inline pump needs to be mounted as close to the gas tank as possible. IMO

Trust me i dont like those missing links or fmu's...just a temporary solution.

Soooooo...like mentioned before I can run safely up to 9 or 10 psi with a high pressure intank fuel pump? If I get a lower disc for the FMU, that will lower my fuel pressure a little. Will that help?

a intank pump will support enough fuel for running 9-10 pounds.

I got the high pressure Walbro in tank pump. My friend with a turbo 2.5rs subaru runs the same pump, the same fmu...and all is well.
