Default Explain this idea to me, 8k rpm, no boost...

okay, i read the other day in a thread about breakin in a motor.
someone said you can be at 8k and not be in boost. i understand
that part, but explain this..

so if you rev to 8k without boosting, are you still making the same power
you would be at wot? i dont think you would, correct me if im wrong, but
then i dont understand why you woulnt make the same amount of power at
wot. isnt hp dpendant on rpm?

also, say if you are untuned. you dont want to be boostin it. so if you were to
drive up to 8k without boosting, would this just be like reving it to 8k without a turbo and you wouldnt need a tune if it wasnt driven in boost? would it mess up anything if untuned?

i hope my questions dont confuse anyone

you should borrow a wideband and have someone tune while you break it in.

its not that, im dont breakin in my motor. but the ideas of what i asked is what i dont understand.

you can rev to 8k all day without being at wot.. take your car out and slowly accelarate and stay out of boost
its not going to make power because your not at wot.. it will make power but not POWER

so going to 8k NOT aT WOT without a tuned motor is ok?

it should be ok but they would your want to do that thats why they got a 2nd 3rd and 4 and 5th gear.

im not going to do it personally, but i just want to understand the idea and concept.

tuned with what?
if your car is running on an afc, possibly because that way you'll be running on your stock map so there is no need for boost compensation.
theoretically you could but there is so many different variables that will change the situation.
If you have no fuel setup at all you will be fine driving it like a *****. I drove my car for weeks turbod with no fuel setup. There's no reason to take it to 8k though

IF you have DFI or something then dont do it, you can t still hurt **** if your car isnt tuned whatsoever for driveability
