exhaust temp guage install. Before or after turbo?
I am installing an exhaust temperature guage on my 97 EX. I have a Greddy turbo kit with the stock cast manifold. I was wondering where I should install the thermocouple probe.
Should it be before or after the turbo?
Also, if it should be in the manifold, where on the manifold should it be tapped?
Is this something that I can do myself?
Or do I have to go to a muffler shop?
Or would it be better to go to a machine shop?
sorry for all of the stupid questions. I just want to make sure how to do this before I screw something up.
thanks in advance,
aj

when you say third runner, is that the third runner from the timing belt or the tranny?

Re: exhaust temp guage install. Before or after turbo? (94cxHybrid)
I just did a search on the topic you mentioned.
But I want to know if I am able to do this myself.
What tools would I need to tap into the cast turbo manifold?
Should I use JB Weld to hold it in the manifold?
I don't want to have to go to some machine shop where there is a chance that they could mess this up.
thanks in advance,
aj

its the third runner from the timing belt. it should be easy. just see what size the fitting on the probe is and drill away. then using a tap and die set tap the hole. but make sure its the same size as the probe. but im not really sure about any sealants, anybody?

So I don't have to really worry about the cast turbo manifold cracking?

what kind of drill bits do you think I should use to drill the hole?
I have CRAFTSMAN cobalt drill bits. Do you think they would be sufficient?
