Default exhaust leak or not? *pics*

i just noticed some black carbon deposit looking things on the valve cover. is this an exhaust leak? if so, where did it come from? my guess is that my wastegate gasket blew. please check out the pics and let me know what you think. the valve cover was clean prior to today.

can i use liquid gasket to replace the tial gasket? i've heard of tial gaskets going out quick. this was with 3rd gear 10psi pull. thanks.

On my old 35mm tial, i actually never used a gasket, and I never had any leaks. I guess if you want, you could try some high temp. RTV silicon gasket material.

i say remove gasket and run without gasket..

if flat area without gasket, you wouldn't have this huge of a leak as you do using gasket.

My Tial 38mm gasket blew out in less than 24 hours, left a similar mark on my hood.

Remove that gasket immediately! tighten the WG bolts about even (same torque on both sides) and it won't leak.

sure, in my sig.

you can also find me at honduh.com (h-t posts move too damn fast!)

as for the exhaust leak issue, the tial gasket had burnt out in one corner (facing engine side). i just ended up tightening it each side lil bit at a time and since then, no leaks!

Rock! Glad to hear it. I haven't heard anyone complain about Tial WG leaking when running without a gasket.

Actually, the high temp RTV is only good for 650degF (way too low, but maybe the copper RTV is slightly higher?) and neither is O2 sensor safe ie. it can ruin the sensor...

Also, it looks like an exhaust leak to me
