Exhaust Gas Temp Gauge. mines in Farhenhiet -need answers
Ok, so uh basically instead of reading 300' Celsius mines in Farhenhiet.
When driving last night it hovered around the '12' mark.. which seemed high.
at what point is it too hot and at what point should I let it cool down too? (no TTimer yet)
I let it cool down to the '6' but not sure if thats cool yet.
does 300' celsius = '8' ?
help a broda out.

1200F is 648C
Degrees F to C = (F Temp -32) X 5/9
Degrees C to F = C Temp x 9/5 + 32
you dont want to stay above 750C too long or around 1400F

never relly thought about it, not so important as colling the turbo down and giving it plenty of oil, I would say just idle the car for 30 sec's is usually enough, your EGT temps wil drop to around 300C anyway. if your car still registers hot on EGT like 500C and higher at idle you have a problem, otherwise just shut it off after the turbo has had a chance to slow down.

yeah idling and waiting really has nothing to do with the EGTs. I would recommend 30 seconds at least, and up to 2 minutes if you've recently been boosting a lot.
