evo 8 turbo on my h22.
what up peoples, anyone out there with an evo turbo on there h22? My buddy just killed his evo and wants to get rid of the turbo stuff. I found a manifold for an h22 that will fit evo turbos, just wanted to know what other parts I should get off his car before I go wastin the little money I have. Any other information on the subject would be helpful, I'm new to the world of turbo so be gentle. lol thanx

that would be a really responsive set up, but that turbo would probably start running out of breath in the high end. it depends what kind of driving you'll be doing. i had a really small turbo on my b18c1. it was fun driving around on the street and it did well on the auto cross course.

Man U FTW
it all depends on your preference....yes the turbo is quite small but if you want a turbo that will instantly respond but taper off in the high end (still a lot more power than stock) then this is a decent turbo for you....there are better choices out there though

i drove both h22 with a t3 and t28.. and t28 is alot more fun and repsonsive than the t3. t3 more for pure drag racing and t28 more for street fun daily driving.

so basicly decent for the beginner, I'll probably get board with it real quick. I like to drag race, and the car isn't driven daily. So what other turbo's would be ideal for my engine with a stock bottom end?

gt30r dual ball bearing. cost like 1300 but it worth it with ball bearing if your planning to go big.
but then i think i rather get gt2871r. very responsive and can go up to 450hp. cost 1100.

so if I was to use one of these turbos, I'm definitly gonna need a good manifold to go with it. Do the Full race manifolds work with theses turbos? Also what type of wastgate should I use?

Full-race no longer makes manifolds for the H series. I wouldn't waste your time with that turbo personally. Too small and after 6500ish rpms it will fall on it's face.

so what turbo would u suggest ? I found a full race manifold from a private seller so that won't be an issue.

I have a 16g evo III turbo on my h22 and it's a lot of fun. It doesn't make high horsepower numbers but it does spool very quickly. If you're looking for high numbers then I'd go with something else but it you want a "reliable" setup it's a good one because you won't be pushing high numbers on stock internals. It is all in the tune though for reliability.
I'm @ 7lbs putting down 230whp 210wtq
16g turbo
38mm Tial WG
50mm Tial BOV
stock h22
hondata s200
precision 525cc injectors
arp headstuds

Re: evo 8 turbo on my h22. (CXHATCHver2.2)
If you even bother with this turbo make sure you get a EVO 9 hot side that will help you out up top but it will be a fast spool and make more power then the EVO 3 16g
I would just get a t3/t4e if you ever decide to move to a different turbo you will be able to resell it. The EVO 8 i don't think you will find that many people that want to play with that turbo on a honda.

i would peronally go with the gt28 from the s15 240sx dual ball bearing. or the gt2871r even better. both are very fun turbo for course racing.
