Everyone thinks i'm going to blow my motor.....
Yeah, um....what is the deal? This is my setup:
D16Y7 Motor, 45k miles, 5-speed tranny
D16Y8 Intake manifold, Fuel Rail, and injectors
Greddy Turbo Kit
Walbro 255lph High Power Fuel Pump with filter
Greddy Bluebox
HKS Turbo Timer
MSD Ignition 6btm with Boost Retard
B&M Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator
Mitsubishi Starion FMIC with expanded 2.25" endtanks
Blitz BOV
MSD 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires
NGK V-Power Spark Plugs (2 stages colder)
TurboXS Manual Boost Controller
Synapse Missing Link
A'pexi N-1 Exhaust (2.25") - soon to be expanded to 3"
No Catalytic Converter
Mobil 1 SuperSyn 15W-50
Prestone Coolant Fluid
Bosch Oil Filter
Yeah well apparently the guy at the shop says everyone thinks I'm gonna blow my motor when I turn up the boost... I don't know why. Do you guys think that 7psi daily and 10 at the track is harsh for my setup? Or how about 7psi daily and 9 at the track? I want to show them that my motor will work fine under higher boost. They think I shouldnt go higher than 5...which is abunch of bull from what I hear. There is no difference on the internals really....
The difference in the two is the piston shape, the DX has a slightly less compression and the Heads combustion chamber is larger. For a Turbocharged engine 9.5:1 compression is very easy to manage and great for boost. The DX or Y7 has a compression of 9.4:1 and the EX has a compression of 9.6:1. The difference are in the piston dome (or Dish actually) and the combustion chamber size.
Soooo...? Will it blow?

with that fuel management set up, its a spin of the bottle. It could last, or it could blow. You never know...

How are you running the blue box and the missing link together exactly? And No you wont blow, you're running to rich to blow up.

What would you guys suggest I do (what mods)? And what would be the highest you would run with my current setup (for daily? and for track?)?

Re: (swrdply400mrelay)
Blue box and missing link are not compatible.
Blue box and 240cc Y8 injectors are not compatible.
I give the setup a seven second life expectancy, through no fault of the basic turbo mounting/plumbing/oiling and engine itself. Stock Y7 can handle that boost if you get fuel to it.

u should be alright, the blue box makes you run pretty rich, i had the greddy kit on my old d16 and ran 8 pounds daily with just a thicker head gasket pretty much...watch the mbc you might boost spike and blow..thats all i can think of

Re: (omahaturbocivic)
My friend ran a staock D16Y8 with greddy kit with no problems. He was boosting 12 at the track spiking to 14. Honda motors are strong as long as u keep them up.
