Default Evap canister purge solenoid idle problems - can I remove it safely ??

For a while now I was having random low idle problems and sometimes the car would die and stall right after start up (when warmed up). I tried everything and as a last hope, I removed the Evap purge solenoid and plugged the vacuum source on the intake manifold and instantly the car idles better and does not stall anymore! As crazy as this may sound, my exhaust even sounds "deeper" now - wierd...

I spent over an hour searching and reading only to find mixed opinions so here is my question ...

Since I am boosted, do I really need all this EVAP stuff or can I just leave the solenoid disconnected and the vacuum port plugged on the intake manifold? Car is OBD1 EG Civic, Turbo H22A and since I am in IL there is no emissions...

if you're OBDI throw take it out and store it in your garage just in case you ever need it again.

just make sure you reroute your gas tank vapor hose to the rear of the car other you will smell gas inside the car

Well, I removed the purge solenoid and blocked off the hoses as well as the port on the intake manifold and it made a difference in the way my car idles and sounds and even accelerates somewhat - wierd huh. I mean it actually did some GOOD

It's roughly under the fuel filter. You can't miss it, it's attached to the canister.
