ive heard different on that, what the expletive is the windage tray for, i always have to space my LS windage tray out about 6mm with a spacer to clear the arp main studs.

I have the same problem w/ their 5 main girdle hitting the baffle, what I did was I filed/grind some off the tray to not hitting the girdle. After I did that, all bolt holes were lined up fine w/o problem.

The windage tray keeps excess oil off the rotating assembly, and usually also helps shed oil off the rotating assembly.

Thats stupid to run w/o the windage try. Its there for a good reason and should be kept in place. Modify the tray to get it to work.

I was under the impression the girdle will act as the windage tray. The only problem I had was the arp bolt was hitting the corner of my moroso oil pan where it was welded. I just grinded some of the weld down so it would fit.

I talked to sean at earl as well. He told me the windage tray is not needed. The girdle acts as a windage tray already. hmmm...

And why would they drill and tap the girdle for the windage tray for? All I did was grind some off the tray and everything lined up just fine.

Is it really? I must have missed that when I put the oil pan on. I will check that out.

Re: (batboyvaj)
Damn I hate to take the pan out off the block again to take some pictures of mine and what I had to do to not hit anything. I still have my motor on the engine stand but I got the pan torque down already. Please if anyone have the ERL girdle, please post up some pix of that on the block.

Where do you see the holes drilled and tapped on the girdle for the windage tray ? You may be referring to the two holes for the oil pick up ...
Someone explain to me what the purpose of the windage tray is for ?

My opinion is that you do not need it with the girdle..

Re: ERL girdle is hitting my gsr windage tray (TheWickedOne)
the two are absolutely unrelated. Windage tray reduces the amount of air disturbed by the crank, it prevents air bubbles (oil foaming) from entering the oil. Foaming can cause bearings to fail. Honduh didnt just put it there for no reason.

Re: ERL girdle is hitting my gsr windage tray (hondaapi)
Hey guys, these are all good questions but 98 % of the ERL 5 Point Main Girdles that we have sold do not use the windagetray. If you still insist on using it you can but it just takes some modification to be done to it. It really doesn't need to be on there. We have ran it with out on builds up over 900 hp with NO problems at all. PM me if you all have any other questions about it and I'll be happy to answer them for you and the tapped holes in it are for the GSR oil pick up.

Re: ERL girdle is hitting my gsr windage tray (ERL Performance)
HONDA uses a block girdle and windage tray on their engines from the factory. and i know honda engineers are definately smarter than us and put a lot of time and research into these parts so IMO i would say its there for a damn good reason so i would attempt to make sure and use it. havent found a part on a honda engine yet that didnt serve a damn good purpose. not that only honda uses these but if it wasnt there for a good reason it prob wouldnt be there at all. just my .02$

Re: ERL girdle is hitting my gsr windage tray (agrn93ls)
My GSR windage tray went on with no problem. I had a to do some triming on my morosso pick up but I think that was a morosso problem.
