I really like the Eneos 0w-50. That's what I use in my 600 whp Integra, revving to 9200 RPM.

Re: Engine oil ?

Depending on the use of the engine but for a street car I would use a 10w-30 after that is just a matter of brand pref. I like mobil1 and Royal purpple in my modded engines but if it's just the DD then I use mobil5000. The only time I would use above a 10w-30 is for a race only engine but even then I would only use a 15w-40.

lets hear some reasoning for your absurd recommendations.

Re: Engine oil ?

Well think about the purpose of the oil.. To lube and cool! What is hondas recommended viscosity (10w-30 in most engines, never above), y is that the recommended viscosity?? Because of the clearances of the oil passages! There is no real gain behind using a thick a$$ oil besides a high oil pressure. It doesn't lubricate or cool any better nor does it stop oil consumption. Just because ur oil pressure is higher doesn't mean it's working better either, it just means it's harder for the oil pump to pump it. I'm more interested to hear y u guys think it's better to run such high viscosity oil..! Remember ur not driving old fords or chevy's with sloppy lose tolerances.

Re: Engine oil ?

^^ pretty much, the only time I would use a 20w-50 would be if I set my bearing clearances to .0025".

I ran castrol 20w-50 in my DD. 20,000 miles at 430whp. No problem

I'm not sayin it will absolutly cause problems but it doesn't benifit anything either.
