Engine Builders... New Rings, Self Hone - What to use? 3 stone or dingleberry?
What tool is best for a stockish rebuild, the Autozone special dingleberry work?
Or do I need a 3 stone with 400 grit?

I have always used the 3 stone one they suggest in the Honda factory service manual and I have always had good results from said tool.

Everyone seems to love the dingleberry one, but I have the 3 stone (that's all I could find locally) and it works well too.
The first couple times using the 3 stone I didn't go up and down fast enough and I didn't get a good cross hatch. If you get one, go up and down quickly.

i have always done the dingle berry hone, but on the honda's that i have built, they all have been power honed with a rottler machine. because they have gone over sized.

Wow, I didn't know you could self-hone a block. I thought that had to be done at a machiene shop.
Now I just need to find a place to hottank my block.
