Engine break in
 

How long do you guys think I should break in my motor before I start boosting on it again?? I have a d16y8 with srp pistons, eagle rods, oem bearings and seals, never started before until last night when i drove around the city for a good 150 miles until i finally got bored of no boost. just curious on how long I should take it easy on it before I can start boosting again. 500 miles?? 1000 miles??? a whole oil change interval? Let me know what would be the best/safest. thanks

Some will say to wait till about 500 miles, i myself am going to wait about that, there is a good write up i think on Evans Tuning home page about proper engine break in and such, i would suggest looking there for answers or trying some other searching on H-T

I agree with no break-in. I ran my engine long enough to go through a few heat cycles, check for leaks, burp coolant lines etc... I also use ND-30 oil, but later found that might not be the best thing? After the intial start up about 30-45min I shut it off, drained the oil and had it tuned. Before I decided on this I talked to several (reliable) engine builders and got he same answer.
