electronic boost controller

right now my car is tuned with hondata at 8 psi with a manual boost controller....im currently buildin the block and gonna be runnin around 18 or so psi. is there any advantages to runnin a electronic boost controller? i know u can change boost on the fly and what not but wouldnt that mess things up cause ur car is tuned at a certain psi and if u lower or raise the psi the car wont be tuned anymore at that psi. whats the point of a electronic boost controller?

Re: electronic boost controller (ochsy03)

When a car is tuned, it will be good for basically any boost level up to where it was tuned for. For instance if you tune for 18 psi, then you could run lower boost levels and the will be fine. That is if your car is tuned properly. The advantages of an electronic boost controller are adjustability, more steady boost, and holding the wastegate closed until the desired boost is hit. When using just a spring it will start to bleed before you actually hit target boost.

Also when drag racing an electronic controller can allow the user to have different boost levels per gear to help eliminate wheel spin.
