Electric blower question......
Those ones on ebay. I was thinking why not try two of them on my car?
Just kidding. My real question deals with using one of these on a 5 HP briggs + straton engine. I would think it could flow enough. What do you guys think? Should I try it? [Modified by 89civic1.8T, 3:39 AM 9/18/2002] |

Yeah, they would work well. You might get 20-30 extra hp out of that 5HP engine...

Hmm...that's an interesting idea. However, I don't feel that the weight/power gain ratio is worth it. Also, where would you put the engine and it's corresponding compressor? What about fuel? Throttle control?
I think a turbo is more efficient...but I also think that innovation is a key to success. Go for it! |
Re: Electric blower question...... (89civic1.8T)
Nope won't do a damn thing. What people don't understand is that you can't just look at the volume of air they claim these things produce, it's at what pressure do these things create that volume of air.
They are designed to blow air in the open, in other words. If you cover the end of it with your hand, it's not going to blow your hand off, it's going to push less air. So if you bolt it to an engine, it's not going to force in more air, it's going to restrict the engine's normal airflow. If it did work, however, where would you get the extra fuel to compensate for the boost? http://images.zeroforum.com/smile/emsmileo.gif |

Yeah, I bet since there is no AC or anything fancy we could use one of those scientific calculators and re-wire it to act as a simple DFI!!!!!
