EGT's on a completely stock GSR
So I picked up a greddy egt gauge but no turbo...i was curious what sort of temps the b18c1 was used to seeing in a completely stock environment
here is my setup (2000 GSR):
intake: stock
header: stock
engine: stock
cat: stock
exhaust: stock
ecu: stock obdii
running 93 octane
its pretty much stock y0
except for the bird poop
conditions
75degrees F
49% humidity
EGT probe installed about 3" away from head on #3 runner
80mph highway cruise: ~700C
4th gear 50mph cruise: ~600C
WOT from 80 to 90mph indicated: temps drop from 700C to 680C (ecu goes into open loop, running richer)
WOT in 3rd,4th,5th from 50mph to 100mph: 680C climb to 720C at 100mph.
720C was the highest I could make it read.
Do you guys see similar temps at cruise? When I get to 1/2 tank i am gonna put 89 in there for a ~91 octane mix and repeat the test in similar conditions.
Also, without that stamped head shield, man the AC lines get HOT.

DIRep972: it climbs fast but it peaks right around 800-810

Damn I need an EGT gauge. If it helps my factory water temp gauge goes to about the 3/4 mark close to the red under hard boost on the highway

Re: EGT's on a completely stock GSR (Arturbo)
I have always been curious to know what the stock (non-turbo) EGT's looked like.
Hard to believe that a turbo only changes the readings 50-75C.
Thanks!

I am still debating on having another o2 bung added to this setup cause i might get away with using the wideband just for tuning and removing it from the car instead of installing it permanently - i say this cause there is a chance the AEM EMS can use the stock o2 sensor for part-throttle fuel correction (man that would be icing on the cake).

Re: EGT's on a completely stock GSR (Farnsrocket)
weeeeeeeeeeeee. just wanted to put this up since it helped me. I"m seeing a lil less than 700C in full boost in 5th gear. I haven't been able to pass 700C at all on a 2 hour drive so I guess i'm safe
