EGT only reads 220 F (searched 20+ threads, wiring is correct)
Like the title sais.
At the risk of being flamed...here it goes.
I have an autometer EGT gauge and it's only reading 220 farenheit. Alot of the time it's at 200 but after a while it will slowly raise to 220.
The guage came with the car and was working before the new motor. The probe is fine, I looked at it when we had the manifold off for other reasons.
Any ideas to what could be wrong.
EDIT: I searched over 20 pages of threads, not just 20 threads.

bad guage?
bad sending unit?
Call Autometer and see if you can get the resistance values and check the probe itself...This way you dont have to waste time sending it in and shipping charges and such...
Does it move at all? Take the probe out and hit it with a torch...

Ok, I'll give them a call later today. Yes it moves but it does so slowly and it only varies about 40 degrees no matter what the driving conditions are. Anyone else have a suggestion?

It's tapped about an inch and a half out of the 3rd runner.
The wire to the thermo could have been cut, it was disconnected when I got the car. Does that matter?

Yeah that could affect it ALOT. lol. My buddy hooked his up about 4in down from the EXH. mani and his reads about 600 @ idle. His car isnt boosted yet but he wanted to have all the gauges working...
